How to Crochet a Potholder
REQUIRED MATERIALS

Art. 600 Lily Cotton Yarn skeins or
Art. 930 Sugar ‘N Cream Yarn Balls
1 Skein or Ball of color to match kitchen color scheme
Crochet Hook No. 1
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Sugar Bowl Crochet Pattern
With white ch 20 (to be 3 1/2 inches long) skip first st on ch, make 1 sc each st (19 sc). Make 1 sc in each st on other side of ch (19 sc). Continue, working around center.
Taking the back thread of st, make 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each st for 18 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each st for 19 sts; 3 sc in next st (above increase of previous row) 1 sc in each st for 20 sts, 3 sc in next st (above increase of previous row) 1 sc in each st for 1 complete row. Make 1 dc in each st for 1 complete row. (Each dc makes 1 post.)
Row 1 – Make 1 complete row of dc (or posts) as follows: skip 1 post, * 2 dc between the next 2 posts, skip 2 posts, repeat from * around.
Row 2 – With color (connect by pulling through last loop of white) make 2 dc in each hole (where posts were skipped) of previous row.
Continue in this manner, alternating the rows, white, then color, etc., until fourth colored stripe of dc is completed.
With color, make 1 sc in each st (taking back thread) for 1 row. Break colored thread. ***
With white, make 1 sc in each st for 4 complete rows.
Next row, directly above increase at bottom of jug, make 3 sc in same st, 1 sc in each st for 22 sts, 3 sc in next st; make 1 complete row of sc.
Crocheting the Sugar Bowl Handle
Ch 13, fasten at top of second colored stripe, with sc.
Make 1 sc in each st of ch.
Continue to other side of Jug with 1 sc in each st across top.
Make another handle in the same manner. Break white thread. With color, make 1 sc along edge of handles.
Creamer Crochet Pattern
Follow instructions for Jug until reaching ***
With white, make 1 sc in each st for 1 row.
Make 1 sc in each st for 22 sts, 3 sc in next stitch.
Make 1 sc in each st for 2 complete rows.
Increase at spout directly above previous spout increase.
Make 1 sc in each st for 2 complete rows increasing in each row directly above increase of previous row (ending with spout increase).
Make 1 sc in each st to other side of pitcher. (There are now 6 white rows above the colored.)
Make handle in same manner as in Sugar Bowl Instructions.
