STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
To Make Narrow Afghan Stitch Panel
With Blue Ch. 20, work in Plain Afghan St. for 210 rows (60 inches).
Plain Afghan St:
Ch. desired length.
Row 1 – Draw up a loop in each St. of Ch., leaving all loops on hook, now take off loops as follows: Y. O. hook, draw through 1 loop, * Y. 0. hook, draw through 2 loops, repeat from * across row.
Row 2 – Draw up a loop in each upright St., leaving all loops on hook, now take off same as Row 1.
Repeat Row 2 for pattern.
To fasten off. slip St. across row.
Work 1 more Panel the same. Embroider from Chart 1 (below).
To Make Wide Afghan Stitch Panel
Ch. 48. work in Plain Afghan St. (see above) for 210 rows (60 inches).
Work 1 more Panel the same. Embroider from Chart 2 (below).
To Make Smocked Afghan Stitch Panel
Ch. 24 and work in Smocked Afghan St. for 210 rows (60 inches).
Smocked Afghan St:
Ch. desired length and work Row 1 of plain Afghan St.
Row 2 – Count loop on hook as first St. of row. * draw up a loop in next upright St., keeping it on hook, bring yarn forward, with left thumb hold below next upright St.. draw up a loop through this St., repeat from * across row. Work back as Afghan St.
Row 3 – * Bring yarn forward and hold below 2nd upright St., draw up a loop, next St. draw up a loop as plain Afghan St., repeat from * across row. Work back as Afghan St.
Repeat the last 2 rows for pattern.
Work 2 more Panels the same.
Join panels by working 1 row of S.C. on right side.
Border for Queen Anne Blanket
Work 1 row of S.C. around edge, then 1 row more at each side.
Fringe for Queen Anne Blanket
Wind Blue around a 5 inch cardboard, cut loops at one side. Using 2 strands, double and knot fringe in every St. at each end of Afghan.
