Steel Crochet Hooks No. 4 and No. 7

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

With No. 4 hook ch 5, join to form a ring, ch 5, d c in ring, * ch 2, d c in ring, repeat from * 5 times, ch 2, join in 3rd st of ch.

2nd Round – Ch 3, 2 d c in same space, * ch 1, 3 d c in next d c, repeat from * 6 times, ch 1, join in 3rd st of ch.

3rd Round – Ch 3, 2 d c in same space, * ch 1, skip 1 d c, 3 d c in next d c, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, ch 1, 3 d c in next d c, repeat from * twice, ch 1, skip 1 d c, 3 d c in next d c, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, ch 1, join.

4th Round – Ch 3 (counts as 1 d c), 1 d c in each of the next 2 d c, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, ch 1, 3 d c in next d c, ch 1, skip 1 d c, 3 d c in next d c, ch 1, repeat from beginning all around, join.

5th Round – Ch 3, 2 d c in same space, * ch 1, skip 1 d c, 3 d c in next d c, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, ch 1, 3 d c in next d c, repeat from * all around ending to correspond, ch 1, join.

6th Round – Ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 2 d c, * ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, repeat from * ail around, ch 1, join.

7th Round – Ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 2 d c, * ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, ch 1,3 d c in next d c, ch 1, skip 1 d c, 3 d c in next d c, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, repeat from * all around ending to correspond, ch 1, join.

8th Round – Same as 6th round.

Repeat the last round 7 times, ch 3, turn at end of last round.

16th Round – 1 d c in each d c and 1 d c in each ch 1 space, join, do not turn.

17th Round – Ch 3, 1 d c in each d c, join, do not turn.

Repeat the last round 5 times, cut thread – Turn last 6 rounds upward and sew last round to 16th round filling roll with cotton while sewing.

Hat Pattern – Button

Ch 2, 6 s c in 2nd st from hook, do not join rounds.

2nd Round – 2 s c in each s c.

3rd Round – * 1 s c in next s c, 2 s c in next s c, repeat from * all around. Work 1 round even, then ** s c in next s c, decrease in next 2 sts (to decrease: * insert hook in next st, pull loop through, repeat from * once, thread over and work off all loops at one time), repeat from ** until 5 sts remain filling with cotton while decreasing, cut thread leaving an end.

Draw together and sew on top of hat as illustrated.

String 19 pearl beads and sew around button. String 25 pearl beads and sew around 1st row of beads. Sew 1 bead in center of button.
