This free vintage afghan pattern was originally published in the Woolco Knitting and Crocheting Manual, in 1916.

Follow the easy step-by-step instructions of this antique afghan crochet pattern to make something someone will treasure forever. There is no charge for personal use of this afghan pattern.

Vintage Afghan Pattern

REQUIRED MATERIALS

3 skeins of blue and 4 skeins of cream white Woolco Germantown Zephyr
No. 4 Woolco Crochet Hook

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

With white, make a chain of 130 stitches.

On this chain, work in bean stitch, as follows:

6 rows of white, *1 row of blue, 1 row of white, 6 rows of blue, 1 row of white, 1 row of blue, 8 rows of white.

Repeat from * until there are 3 stripes of blue, and end with 6 rows of white.

Finish with a scallop of 6 white stitches and a picot of blue on the sides and ends.
