REQUIRED MATERIALS
Bucilla Floraltone Can-die wick, Art. 3467;
Main Color (MC) 15 Skeins
Contrasting Color (CC) 2 Skeins
Plastic or Wood Crochet Hook, No. 10

The final size of this block design rug is approximately 24″ x 34″.
Gauge for Block Design Rug: 3 sts = 1″; 3 Rnds = 1″
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Block Design Rug – Square
With 2 strands of MC ch 4, join with sl st into ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 8 sc in ring, join in first sc. Turn at end of every rnd.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 1 sc in joined sc, 1 sc in next sc, * (Corner Group of 1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) in next sc, 1 sc in next sc; repeat from * around; end, 1 more sc in joined sc, ch 1, join in first sc.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, 1 sc in joining ch-1 sp, 1 sc in each st to ch-2 sp at corner, * a Corner Group in ch-2 sp, 1 sc in each st to next ch-2 sp; repeat from * around; end, 1 more sc in joining sp (having same number of sts on all 4 sides), ch 1, join.
Repeat rnd 3 six times. Fasten off.
Rnd 10: With 2 strands of CC, work 1 sc in joining sp; continue as in rnd 3 only fasten off.
Rnd 11 – (right side): With 2 strands of MC, 1 sc in joining sp, * 1 sc in each of next 5 sc, yo, draw up a 3/4″ lp around post of next sc 2nd rnd down, (yo, thru 2 lps) twice (Cable st made), always skip sc behind Cable st, 1 sc in each of next 7 sc, work a Cable st, 1 sc in each of next 5 sc, a Corner Group in ch-2 sp; repeat from * around, in last repeat omit Corner Group; end, 1 more sc in joining sp, ch 1, join.
Repeat rnd 3.
Rnd 13: Ch 1, 1 sc in joining sp, * 1 sc in each of next 7 sc, a Cable st around post of Cable st below, 1 sc in-each of 7 sc, a Cable st around post of next Cable st below, 1 sc in each of 7 sc, a Corner Group in ch-2 sp; repeat from * around, ending and joining as before.
Repeat rnd 3.
Rnd 15: Ch 1, 1 sc in joining sp, * 1 sc in each of 9 sc, a Cable st around post of next Cable st below, 1 sc in each of 7 sc, a Cable st as before, 1 sc in each of 9 sc, a Corner Group in ch-2 sp; repeat from * around, ending and joining as before. Fasten off.
Make 6 Squares.
Arrange Squares as pictured.
From right side (matching Cables) weave tog. st for st, working 1 st thru matched Cables to draw them tog.
Block Design Rug – Border
From wrong side, with 2 strands of CC, 1 sc in ch-2 sp at any corner, * work 1 sc in each st and in, each seam to next corner ch-2 sp, a Corner Group in ch-2 sp; repeat from * around, in last repeat omit Corner Group; end, 1 more sc in joining sp, ch 1, join, fasten off.
Rnd 2: From right side, with 2 strands of MC, 1 sc in joining sp, 1 sc in each of next 11 sc, a Cable around post of Cable below, 1 sc in each sc to next Cable, a Cable around post of Cable below; continue in same way around, working a Corner Group in each sp at corners, ending as before, join.
Repeat Rnd 3 as before 4 times. Fasten off.
