Bucilla or Fleisher’s Steel Crochet Hook, Size 6

Embroidered Pillowcase – Center

Ch 147.

Work as for center of baby blanket on 18 shells for 38 rows.

Row 39 – Same as row 97 of baby blanket.

Border of Pillowcase

Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in first dc (corner st), work 143 sc to next corner (about 4 sc in each sp), 1 sc in center st of ch 7 (corner st), work 95 sc to next corner (about 5 sc to 2 rows), 1 sc in center of turning ch (corner st); work other 2 sides to correspond, join with slip st in first sc.

Row 2 – Same as row 2 of baby blanket.

Repeat last row until there are 13 rows of sc, having 167 sc across top and bottom, 119 sc on each side, plus 1 st in each corner.

Crocheting the Pillow Ruffle

Work row 1 same as row 1 on baby blanket having 83 dc (84 sp) across top and bottom, and 59 de (60 sp) on each side, plus 3 dc with ch 1 between in each corner. Finish ruffle same as on baby blanket.

The Finishing Touches

Steam lightly. With contrasting color make 24 flowers as for sweater. Sew flowers on sc border, having 1 flower in each corner, 4 more on each short side, equally spaced, 6 more on each long side, equally spaced. Embroider as for sweater, see illustration. Sew to pillow form.
