Mercerized crochet thread and a size 7 crochet hook were used to make this attractive flower edged potholder. You may choose any color combination; the model, however, was made of white with variegated edge.


This crochet potholder pattern measures about 6 1/2 inches in diameter.

Abbreviations: Ch (chain); st (stitch); sl st (slip stitch); rnd (round); dc (double crochet); sc (single crochet); sk (skip).


In white, ch 6 and join to first ch to form a ring. Make 24 dc in ring, join with sl st.

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in 4th st (6 sts in all), (ch 1, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc) repeated around having 6 dc in each (6 sections in all).

Make 10 rnds, inc 2 sts in each section on every rnd. 22 sts in each section in 10 rnd.

Make 2 pieces. Then with yellow, crochet both together with a tr in each st and ch 2 between, join.

With variegated thread, make a shell of (1 sc, 5 dc, 1 sc) over each of next 8 sps making 8 shells, count back 5 shells, catch with si st in 5 th shell to make a flower. Repeat around having 3 shells between each flower.

Ch 8, sk 2 shells, 12 sc over this ch lp, fasten off.
