3 2-oz. Skeins No. 1207.8 Dk. Blue

Bone Crochet Hook No. 6

Gauge: 8 sts = 2 inches; 5 rows = 2 inches
The entire crochet afghan is made in Short Double Crochet (sdc). Yarn over insert in st, yarn over and pull through all three loops on needle.
When 2 colors are used, carry the color across entire row drawing up the yarn being carried to insure its not looping up on the wrong side. In changing color, pick up the 2nd color when completing the last st of 1st color.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
With Lt. Tan, ch 200, work 1st sdc in 3rd st from hook and work 197 short double crochet on ch. Ch 2, turn.
2nd Row – Pick up Dk. Blue (the ch 2 at the beginning of each row counts as 1 sdc) and work 21 sdc with Dk. Blue, * 22 Lt. Tan, 22 Dk. Blue, repeat from * across row, with Tan, ch 2, turn.
3rd Row – Cut the Dk. Blue leaving about 3 inches, carry these 3 inches under the next row to fasten. Fasten each color in same manner. Attach Blue and work 2 sts Lt. Tan * 18 sts Lt. Blue, 26 sts Lt. Tan, repeat from * across row ending with 2 sts Lt. Tan, ch 2, turn.
4th Row – Cut Lt. Blue, attach Red and work 4 sts Lt. Tan, * 14 sts Red, 30 sts Lt. Tan, repeat from * across row ending with 4 sts Lt. Tan, ch 2, turn.
5th Row – Cut Red, attach Amber and work 6 sts Lt. Tan, * 10 sts Amber, 34 sts Lt. Tan, repeat from * across row ending with 6 sts Lt. Tan, ch 2, turn.
6th Row – Cut Amber, attach Lt. Blue and work 8 sts Lt. Tan, * 6 sts Lt. Blue, 38 sts Lt. Tan, repeat from * across row ending with 8 sts Lt. Tan, ch 2, turn.
7th Row – Cut Lt. Blue, attach Dk. Blue and work 10 sts Lt. Tan, * 2 sts Dk. Blue, 42 sts Lt. Tan, repeat from * across row ending with 10 sts Lt. Tan, ch 2, turn.
8th Row – Carry Dk. Blue and work * 22 sts Lt. Tan, 22 sts Dk. Blue, repeat from * across row, ch 2, turn.

11th Row – Cut Red, attach Amber and work 28 sts Lt. Tan, * 10 sts Amber, 34 sts Lt. Tan, repeat from * across row ending with 28 sts Lt. Tan, ch 2, turn.
12th Row – Cut Amber, attach Lt. Blue and work 30 sts Lt. Tan, * 6 sts Lt. Blue, 38 sts Lt Tan, repeat from * across row ending with 30 sts Lt. Tan, ch 2, turn.
13th Row – Cut Lt. Blue, attach Dk. Blue and work 32 sts Lt. Tan, * 2 sts Dk. Blue, 42 sts Lt. Tan, repeat from * across row ending with 32 sts Lt. Tan. Repeat from the 2nd row until Afghan measures about 72 inches.
Native American Blanket Border
1st Row – Start at corner of short end, work 1 sc in each st, 3 sc in corner st, 3 sc in every 2 rows across long side, 3 sc in corner and continue around other two sides. Join.
2nd and 3rd Rows – 1 sc in each st. At each corner work 3 sc in center st. Join each row.
4th Row – Work in shells, ch 3, 2 dc in same space, skip 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, ch 2, 2 dc in same space, repeat around Native American blanket.
