REQUIRED MATERIALS
CHADWICK’S RED HEART KNITTING WORSTED
35 Balls (1 oz. Balls) each of Pearl Grey and Paddy Green
Bone Afghan Hook No. 6 (4 1/4 mm. size)
NOTE(s)
The approximate size of this blanket: 52 x 70 inches.
Gauge: 5 sts make 1 inch; 4 rows make 1 inch.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Block (Make 108)
With Green ch 36 to measure 7 1/4 inches. Work in afghan stitch, decreasing 1 st at both ends of the second row and every row thereafter until 3 loops remain on row; yarn over and draw through all 3 loops, ch 1 to fasten. Break off.
Working along opposite side of starting chain, attach Grey to first vertical bar on Green and draw loop through, draw up a loop in each Green vertical bar across (36 loops). Complete as for first half of Block, With corresponding colors make a row of sc all around outer edges, join and break off.
Sew 9 rows of 12 Blocks neatly together on wrong side, always having opposite colors meet.
Border
1st rnd: Attach Grey to one corner and make (sc in each sc to next corner, 3 sc in corner sc) twice. Break off Grey, attach Green and work other 2 sides to correspond. Join and break off Green.
2nd to 7th rnds incl: With corresponding colors make sc in each sc around, having 3 sc in center sc of each corner. Join and break off.
