Row 2 – Skip 1st St., draw up 1 loop in each upright St. (9 loops on hook), then take loops off as before to last 3 loops on hook, Y.O. and through 3 loops (decreasing 1 St.).
Row 3 – Starting in 3rd St.. draw up 1 loop in each upright St. (8 loops on hook), take off as in Row 2 decreasing 1 St.
Continue in this manner having 1 loop less each row until 1 loop remains on hook, then change color by drawing Bisque Beige through loop on hook. Draw up 8 loops at straight edge of triangle, then work same as 1st triangle. Draw Hunter through last loop, then work 3rd triangle. Draw up Bisque Beige through last loop, then work 4th triangle. This completes center of square, do not break yarn (to be joined to first triangle later).
To Make Outer Border
Row 1 – With same Bisque Beige strand draw up 18 loops (2 loops in each St.) across Scarlet edge (of 1st triangle), take loops off as in Row 1.
Next row increase 1 St. each side (by drawing up loosely 1 extra loop between 1st and 2nd St, and 1 extra loop between last 2 Sts.), 20 loops on hook, take off as in Row 1.
Continue in this manner for 5 more rows (30 loops on last row), Slip St. across row, break yarn.
Repeat from Row 1 three times more, working with Scarlet over next Bisque Beige edge, with Bisque Beige over Hunter edge, with Hunter over Bisque Beige edge.
Sew Seam of Center Square.
Sew Outer Border at corners.
Work 80 Squares.
Join as illustrated. 8 Squares by 10 Squares, matching colors at sides.
Making the Border
With Hunter work 6 rows of S.C. all around Afghan picking up back loop of Sts. and increasing at corners to keep flat.
