Crochet Dress Pattern -

REQUIRED MATERIALS

Bucilla Crochelle or Fleisher’s Glo-Twist, 14 Balls
Bucilla or Fleisher’s Steel Crochet Hook, Size 9

NOTE(s)

Measurements – Chest 23 inches. Length to underarm 12 inches.
Sleeves – Width at underarm 8 1/2 inches.

Gauge: Pattern – 4 rows = l inch; 21 dc = 2 inches

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Skirt

Ch 272 for top of skirt at underarm.

Pattern – Row 1 – 1 sc in 3rd st from hook, 1 sc in next st, ch 1, skip next 6 sts on ch, 1 dc in next st (1 picot mesh), * ch 5, 1 sc in 3rd st from hook, 1 sc in next st, ch 1, skip 2 sts on ch, 1 dc in next st; repeat from * to end; 88 picot meshes.

Row 2 – Ch 8, turn, * 1 sc in 3rd st from hook, 1 sc in next st, ch 1, skip picot on row below, 1 dc in next dc, ch 5; repeat from *, end last repeat with dc in 2nd st from last picot in row below.

Repeat row 2 until 7 rows from beginning.

Row 8 – Ch 8, turn, work same as row 2 to end, join with slip st in 3rd st of turning ch at beginning of row.

Round 9 – Ch 8, turn, work same as row 8 omitting last dc, join in same way; 88 meshes.

Repeat last round until work measures 10 ins. from beginning.

Next round – Ch 9, turn, 1 sc in 3rd st from hook, 1 sc in next st, ch 1, skip picot, 1 dc in next dc, * ch 6, 1 sc in 3rd st from hook, 1 sc in next st, ch 1, 1 dc in next dc; repeat from *, end last repeat with picot, ch 1, slip st in 3rd st of turning ch.

Repeat last round until 11 1/2 ins. from beginning. Fasten off.

Beading

Row 1 – Working over foundation ch at top of skirt, with loop on hook, work 3 sc in each of first 4 sp, * 2 sc in next sp, 3 sc in each of next 3 sp; repeat from * to end; 243 sc.

Row 2 – Ch 5, turn, skip 2 sts, 1 tr in next st, * ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 tr in next st; repeat from * to end.

Row 3 – Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in first st, * 1 sc in sp, 1 sc in next st; repeat from *, end with last sc in next st on turning ch; 243 sc. Do not fasten off.

Yoke

Back – Left Half – Row 1 – right side – Ch 3, turn, skip 1 st, 1 dc in each of next 50 sts, a decreasing dc in next 2 sts for armhole shaping as follows: yo, draw up a loop in next st, yo, through 2 loops, yo, draw up a loop in next st, yo, through 2 loops, yo, through 3 loops, 1 dc in next st; 53 sts counting ch 3 as dc.

Row 2 – Ch 3, turn, skip 1 st, 1 dc in each st to end.

Dec. 1 st at armhole edge as in row 1, in next row.

Repeat last 2 rows once; 51 sts.

Repeat row 2 until 15 rows from beginning of yoke. Fasten off.

Front – Row 1 – Working from same side as row 1 of back, skip next 13 sts from last dc of back for underarm, with loop on hook, 1 dc in next st, dec. in next 2 sts, 1 dc in each of next 103 sts, dec. in next 2 sts, 1 dc in next st; 107 sts.

Row 2 – Ch 3, turn, skip 1 st, 1 dc in each st to end.

Row 3 – Ch 3, turn, skip 1 st, dec. in next 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to within 3 sts of end, dec. in next 2 sts, 1 dc in last st.

Repeat last 2 rows once; 103 sts.

Repeat row 2 until 11 rows from beginning.

Neck Shaping – Row 12 – Ch 3, turn, skip 1 st, 1 dc in each of next 28 sts, dec. in next 2 sts, 1 dc in next st; 31 sts.

Row 13 – Ch 3, turn, skip 1 st, dec. in next 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end.

Repeat last 2 rows once having 1 st less after each dec. in each row; 28 sts for right shoulder. Fasten off.

Skip next 39 sts on last long row for neck edge; with loop on hook, 1 dc in next st, dec. in next 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end. Finish to correspond to other side. Fasten off.

Back – Right Half – Skip next 13 sts from front for underarm, with loop on hook, 1 dc in next st, dec. in next 2 sts, 1 dc in each st to end.

Next row – Ch 3, turn, skip 1 st, 1 dc in each st to end.

Finish to correspond to left side, do not fasten off. Sew front shoulder sts to corresponding sts on each side of back. Continue to work around back opening, working about 35 sc to beading, 28 sc to bottom of opening; work left edge to correspond.

Next row – Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each of 35 sts, a slip st in each of next 25 sts, skip next 6 sts (3 sts on each side), slip st in each of next 11 sts on right side, ch 3 for buttonloop, skip next 2 sts, slip st in each of next 12 sts, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, * ch 3, skip 2 sts, 1 sc in each of next 7 sts; repeat from * twice, ch 3, skip 2 sts, 1 sc in each st to neck edge. Do not fasten off.

Collar

Working from wrong side, work 91 sc around neck edge spacing sts evenly.

Pattern – Row 1 – Ch 8, turn, 1 sc in 3rd st from hook, 1 sc in next st, ch 1, skip 2 sts on neck edge, 1 dc in next st, * ch 5, 1 sc in 3rd st from hook, 1 sc in next st, ch 1, skip 1 st on neck edge, 1 dc in next st; repeat from * to end.

Continue pat. as for skirt until there are 5 pat. rows. Fasten off.

Sleeves

Ch 39 for top of sleeve. Work pat. as for row 1 of skirt, skipping 1 st on foundation ch for each mesh instead of 2 sts; 15 picot meshes.

Row 2 – Same as row 2 of skirt.

Repeat row 2 until there are 6 rows from beginning.

Row 7 – Ch 6, turn, 1 dc in first dc, work pat. to end of row, ch 3, 1 dc in same st with last dc (a mesh increased at each side).

Row 8 – Work even in pat.

Repeat rows 7 and 8, 3 times; 23 meshes. Work even in pat. for 7 rows. Fasten off.

Finishing

Sew edges of last 7 rows together for sleeve seam.

Sew in sleeves with seam at center underarm. Steam lightly. Draw narrow ribbon through beading.
