Crochet Dress Pattern -

REQUIRED MATERIALS – BLOUSE

Bucilla Crochelle or Fleisher’s Glo-Twist
8 balls Main Color (A)
Few yards Contrasting Color (B) for Trimming
Bear Brand, Bucilla or Fleisher’s Baby Zephyr, 3-fold (C):
Few yards Contrasting Color for Trimming
Bucilla or Fleisher’s Steel Crochet Hook, Size 3

NOTE(s)

This is for a child size 2 to 3 years.

Measurements – Chest 23 inches. Length from lower edge to shoulder 11 1/4 ins.

Gauge: 7 patterns = 2 inches; 11 rows = 2 inches

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

First Half – Front or Back – With A, ch 122; 1 dc and 1 sc in 4th st from hook, * ch 1, skip 2 sts, a pat. of 1 dc and 1 sc in next st; repeat from * end 1 sc in last st.

Row 2 – Ch 3, turn, 1 dc and 1 sc in dc of first pat., * ch 1, 1 dc and 1 sc in dc of next pat. *; repeat between *’s, end 1 sc in top of turning ch; 40 pats.

Repeat last row for pat.

Work even until 7 ins. from beginning.

Armholes – Ch 1, turn, skip first st, 1 slip st in next sc, 1 sc in next dc; repeat between *’s of row 2 to within 1 pat. of end, 1 dc in last dc (1 pat. decreased at each side).

Repeat last row 3 times. Work even on 32 pats, until armholes measure 3 1/4 ins.

Neck Shaping – Work over 12 pats., 1 dc in dc of next pat. Ch 1, turn, dec. 1 pat. at beginning of row as for armhole, finish row. Dec. 1 pat. at end of next row, as for armhole. Work even on 10 pats, until 4 1/2 ins. above underarm. Fasten off.

Skip 6 pats, on last long row for neck edge. With loop on hook, work 1 slip st in sc of next pat., 1 sc in dc of same pat., ch 1, finish row; 12 pats. Finish to correspond to other side. Fasten off.

Second Half

Work as for first half on 40 pats, until same length to underarm.

Opening – Dec. 1 pat. at beginning of next row for armhole shaping, work to within 20 pats, of end, 1 sc under next ch 1. Ch 3, turn, work even in pat. to within 1 pat. of end, 1 dc in last dc. Keeping edge of center opening even, complete armhole shaping as for first half; 16 pats. Work even until armhole measures 3 1/4 ins., end at armhole edge.

Neck Shaping – Work to within 4 pats, of end for neck edge, 1 dc in dc of next pat. Ch 1, turn, dec. 1 pat. at neck edge in each of next 2 rows; 10 pats.

Work even until armhole is same length as on first half. Fasten off.

Join A at beginning of center opening in same sp as last sc, ch 3, work to within 1 pat. of end, 1 dc in last dc for first armhole dec. Keeping edge of opening even, finish to correspond to other half. Fasten off.

Sleeves

With A, ch 104, work 34 pats, even for 2 ins. Dec. 1 pat. at beginning of each of next 18 rows; 16 pats. Fasten off.

Cuffs – Row 1 – right side – With loop on hook, work along foundation ch of sleeve, 1 sc in first st, 1 sc in sp under 2 ch, * 1 sc in next st, 1 sc in next sp; repeat from * 8 times, work 1 sc in each of next 14 pats., 20 sc as before over last 10 pats.; 54 sts.

Row 2 – Ch 3, turn, skip first 2 sc, 1 pat. of 1 dc and 1 sc in next st, * ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 pat. in next st, ch 1, skip 2 sts, 1 pat. in next st; repeat from *, end 1 sc in last st; 21 pats. Work pat. even for 2 rows more. Fasten off.

Collar

With A, ch 54, 1 pat. in 3rd st from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 pat. in next st; repeat from *, end 1 sc in last st; 26 pats.

Work pat. even for 5 rows more. Fasten off. Make 2.

Finishing

Sew seams. Sew in sleeves with seam at center underarm.

Edging – With C, working from right side of cuff, 1 sc in first sp, * ch 1, skip 1 pat., 1 sc in next sp; repeat from * to end, join with slip st to first sc. Fasten off.

With B, working from same side as last row, 1 sc in first sp of ch 1, ch 2, 1 sc in next sp, continue around to end, join with slip st. Fasten off.

Working from right side, work same edging around 3 sides of collar halves, keeping edges flat. Beginning at neck edge, work same edging around center opening, ending last row with a loop at right neck edge for buttonhole. Sew on collar halves, right side out. Work beading on lower edge of blouse for elastic. Steam lightly.

REQUIRED MATERIALS – SKIRT

Bear Brand, Bucilla or Fleisher’s Sweater Floss, 4 balls Main Color, 1 ball Contrasting Color for Cords and Pom-pons
Bucilla or Fleisher’s White Crochet Hook, 1 each, Sizes 2 and 4

NOTE(s)

This is for a child 2 to 3 years of age.

Measurements – Waist 21 ins. Length 10 ins.

Gauge: 11 sts = 2 inches; 6 rows sc = 1 inch

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

With size 4 hook, ch 53 (if greater length is desired, add 5 sts per in.).

Row 1 – Skip first st from hook, 1 sc in each of next 8 sts; 1 hdc in each st to end.

Row 2 – Ch 2, turn, 1 hdc in back loop of each hdc, 1 sc in back loop of next 7 sc, 1 sc in both loops of last st.

Row 3 – Ch 1, turn, 1 se in both loops of first sc, 1 sc in hack loop of each of next 7 sc, 1 hdc in back loop of each hdc to end.

Repeat last 2 rows until waist (sc) measures 21 ins. having an even number of rows. Fasten off. Sew seam for back of skirt.

Straps

Mark center front of waist. Skip 5 ribs from center, with size 2 hook, work 8 hdc across next 5 ribs. Ch 2, turn, 1 hdc in each st working through both loops.

Repeat last row until 16 1/4 ins. or desired length, allowing about 2 ins. for stretching.

Buttonhole – Ch 2, turn, 1 hdc in each of 3 sts, ch 2, skip 2, finish row. Work 3 more rows of hdc. Fasten off.

Work other strap to correspond.

With size 2 hook, beginning at seam edge at top of skirt and working from right side, work 1 sc in end of first row, * ch 1, skip 1 row, 1 sc in end of next row; repeat from * to strap, continue same edging around straps and on upper edge of skirt, keeping work flat. Steam.

Cords

With double strands of contrasting color, make 1 ch of 26 ins. and another ch of 14 ins. Draw shorter ch through front of skirt, 3/4 in. below upper edge, in space between straps. Draw longer ch through back of skirt 3/4 in. below upper edge, in space between straps. Trim with small pom-pons and tie ends as illustrated. Sew buttons to back of skirt to fasten straps.
