Bonnet – 1 1/2 1-oz. Ball 3-ply Baby Yarn
Booties – 1 1-oz. Ball 3-ply Baby Yarn
Size 3 While Crochet Hook
Size 2 White Crochet Hook

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Crocheting the Saque

With size 3 crochet hook, starting at neck edge, ch 62.

Row 1 – Work 1 d c in 6th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 d c in next st; repeat from * across row (29 meshes).

Row 2 – Ch 4, work 2 d c in each of first 7 meshes, * 2 d c, ch 2, 2 d c, all in next mesh (an increase), 2 d c in each of next 6 meshes; repeat from * twice, ending with 3 d c in last mesh.

Row 3 – Ch 4, 2 d c in first space; * 2 d c in next space, skip 1 space; repeat from * 7 times: then work 2 d c, ch 2, 2 d c in the ch 2 space (an increase) * 2 d c in next space, skip 1 space; repeat from last * 7 times; 2 d c ch 2, 2 d c in next space; * 2 d c in next space, skip 1 space; repeat from last * 7 times; 2 d c, ch 2, 2 d c in next space; * 2 d c in next space, skip 1 space: repeat from last * 7 times, ending with 3 d c in last space.

Row 4 – Ch 4, work 1 d c in first space, 2 d c in next space, skip 1 space, 2 d c in next space; continue working as described in row 3, working 2 d c in between the 2 d c in row below, working an increase over each ch of 2 at each point (2 d c, ch 1, 2 d c,), ending with 2 d c in last space.

Row 5 – Ch 4, work 2 d c in first space, skip 1 space, 2 d c in next space; continue working across row as given above, working an increase, at each of the 3 points, ending with 3 d c in last space.

Repeat rows 4 and 5 until 18 rows in all have been made. Do not break yarn.

Edging: Work 1 row of picot sts around entire sacque. Fold sacque across shoulders, along the increased line, and join together at underarms, about 6 in, from point, by sewing 3 picot sts together.

Turn points back at 4th row on each shoulder and fasten down with bow.

Crocheting the Bonnet

With size 3 crochet hook, ch 23. Work 22 s c across ch.

Work back and forth in pattern as given for sacque (omitting increases) for 12 rows for insert.

Ch 23. Join a separate strand of yarn to opposite end of last row of insert and ch 22. Fasten off. Starting at end of first ch made, work back and forth in pattern (33 groups), for 12 rows.

Change to size 2 crochet hook and work back and forth in s c for 8 rows. Fasten off. Sew inserts and sides of bonnet tog.

Fold front of bonnet back on the first row of s c so that back of bonnet is toward you.

With size 3 crochet hook, working right through the fold, work 2 d c into the first s c, * skip 1 s c, 2 d c in each of next 2 s c; repeat from * ending with 2 d c in last st.

Work 2 rows of pattern (omitting increases), then work 1 row of picot sts. Fasten off.

Neckband: With size 2 crochet hook, work 49 s c across neck edge. Work back and forth in s c, st for st, for 6 rows.

Baby Bootie Pattern

With size 3 crochet hook, work as given for Infant Star Stitch Set for instep and foot part only.

Join yarn at center back of boot.

Work in pattern as given for sacque for 8 rows.

Work 1 row of picot sts. Fasten off. Sew back seam.
