STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
With White ch 8, join to form a ring, ch 3 and work 13 d c in ring, join in 3rd st of ch.
2nd Round. Ch 3, d c in same space, 2 d c in nest d c, * ch 2, 2 d c in each of the next 2 d c, repeat from * 5 times, ch 2, do not join this or remaining rounds.
3rd Round. Skip the ch 3, 1 s c in each of the next 3 d c, 2 s c in next loop, * ch 2, skip 1 d c, 1 s c in each of the next 3 d c, 2 s c in next loop, repeat from * all around, ch 2, skip 1st s c, sl st in next s c.
4th Round. Ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 3 s c, 3 d c in next loop, * ch 2, skip 1 s c, 1 d c in each of the next 4 s c, 3 d c in next loop, repeat from * all around, ch 2.
5th Round. Skip the ch 3, 1 s c in eaeh of the next (1 d c, 2 s c in next loop, * ch 2, skip 1 d c, 1 s c in each of the next 6 d c, 2 s c in next loop, repeat from * all around, ch 2, skip 1st s c, sl st in next s c.
6th Round. Ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 6 s c, 3 d c in next loop, * ch 2, skip 1 s c, 1 d c in each of the next 7 s c, 3 d c in next loop, repeat from * all around, ch 2.
7th Round. Skip the ch 3, 1 s c in each of the next 9 d c, 2 s c in next loop, * ch 2, skip 1 d c, 1 s c in each of the next 9 d c, 2 s c in next loop, repeat from * all around, ch 2, skip 1st s t, sl st in next s c.
Continue working last 2 rounds in same manner always working 2 s c in each loop in each s c round and 3 d c in each loop in each d c round and skipping 1st st of each solid section in each round until there are 29 s c in each solid section ending with ch 2, skip 1 s c, sl st in next s c.
20th Round. Picking up back loop of sts only, ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 27 s c, * skip the ch 2 and next d c, 1 d c in each of the next 28 s c, repeat from * all around, join in 3rd st of ch.
21st Round. Working through both loops, sl st to next d c, ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 26 d c, * skip 1 d c, 1 d c in each o of the next 27 d c, repeat from * all around, join in 3rd st of ch.
Repeat the last round 3 times having 1 st less in each d c section in each round.
25th Round. Sl st into next st, ch 1, s c in same space, 1 s c in each of the next 22 d c, * skip 1 st, 1 s c in each of the next 23 sts, repeat from * all around, join, cut thread.
Crocheting the Visor
With right side of work toward you, attach thread in 3rd st to left of any open space, s c in same space, 1 s c in each of the next 40 s c, ch 3, turn.
Next Row. 1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn. Repeat the last row 3 times, sl st down side of visor, s c in next free st of 25th row, ch 1, turn, and work a row of s c up side of visor, 1 s c in each s c across front of visor, work in s c down opposite side, sl st in next free st of 25th round, ch 1, turn.
Next Row. Skip the sl st, 1 s c in each s c around entire visor, working 3 s c in each corner, sl st in next st of 25th round, ch 1, turn.
Next Row. Skip the sl st, 1 s c in each s c around visor, sl st in next st of 25th round, ch 1, turn.
Repeat last row once but working 2 s c in each corner st, cut thread.
The Buttons
With Blue ch 4, 11 d c in 4th st from hook, join in 4th st of ch.
2nd Round. Ch 3 and working in back loop of sts only, work 1 d c in each d c, join. Insert button. Working in back, work 1 s c in every other d c to pull together, fasten securely. Work 2 more buttons in same manner. Divide remainder of 2nd skein in 3 parts and crochet a ch rather tightly about 4 inches long and sew to from of cap at top of visor. Sew a button at each end as illustrated and one at center top. Starch visor if desired.
