STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Middle Section of Crochet Baby Bib Pattern

Ch 44.

1st Row – Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1 to turn at end of each row. Work in back loop of st only throughout entire Middle Section.

2nd Row – Sc in next 6 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 6 sc, (skip 2 sc, sc in next 6 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 6 sc) twice.

3rd Row – Sc in next sc, skip 1 sc, sc in next 5 sc, 3 sc in next sc, (sc in next 6 sc, skip 2 sc, sc in next 6 sc, 3 sc in next sc) twice; sc in next 5 sc, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc. Repeat 3rd row 25 times. Ch 14 for shoulder edge. Break off.

Edging for Crochet Baby Bib Pattern

1st Row – Attach thread at opposite side of row just completed, ch 15, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, sc in each row of side, sc in each st across lower edge, sc in each row of opposite side, sc in each st of ch-14 (127 sc). Ch 3, turn.

2nd Row – Picking up back loop of st only, work dc in each sc, working 3 dc in each corner sc of lower edge and 2 dc in center sc of lower edge. Ch 4, turn.

3rd Row – Skip first dc, tr in next dc, (ch 1, skip 1 dc, tr in next 2 dc) 13 times; * ch 1, skip 1 dc, (2 tr in next dc, ch 1) twice, 2 tr in next dc; (ch 1, skip 1 dc, tr in next 2 dc) 14 times. Repeat from * once. Ch 3, turn.

4th Row – Picking up back loop of st only, work dc in each tr and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.

5th Row – Picking up front loop of st only, work sc in each dc across. Break off.

6th Row – With right side facing, attach thread in first sc row at shoulder edge, ch 5. Working across top of shoulder, (skip 1 st, dc in next st, ch 2) 6 times; * dc in same st (corner), (ch 2, skip 1 sc, dc in next sc) 23 times, ch 2. Repeat from * twice more; dc in same st, (ch 2, skip 1 st, dc in next st) 6 times. Ch 5, turn.

7th Row – Dc in next sp, (ch 2, dc in next sp) 5 times; * ch 2, in next sp make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc; (ch 2, dc in next sp) 7 times. Repeat from * 8 times; ch 2, in next sp make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc, (ch 2, dc in next sp) 6 times; ch 2, dc in 3rd ch of turning chain. Ch 5, turn.

8th Row – Skip 1 sp, dc in next sp, (ch 2, dc in next sp) 4 times; * ch 2, skip 1 sp, dc in next 2 dc; in ch-2 sp make 3 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc; dc in next 2 dc, ch 2, skip 1 sp, dc in next sp, (ch 2, dc in next sp) 5 times. Repeat from * 8 times more; ch 2, skip 1 sp, dc in next 2 dc; in ch-2 sp make 3 dc, ch 2 and 3 dc; dc in next 2 dc, ch 2, skip 1 sp, dc in next sp, (ch 2, dc in next sp) 4 times; ch 2, skip 1 sp, dc in 3rd ch of turning chain. Ch 5, turn.

9th Row – Skip 1 sp, (dc in next sp, ch 2) 4 times; * skip 1 sp, dc in next 5 dc; in next ch-2 sp make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc; dc in next 5 dc, ch 2, skip 1 sp, (dc in next sp, ch 2) 5 times. Repeat from * around, ending row to correspond. Ch 5, turn.

12th Row – Attach thread to first sp of inside shoulder edge and work sc, 2 dc and sc in each sp around bib. Break off. Sew ribbon ties to bib as illustrated.
