Crochet a Hat and Ascot
REQUIRED MATERIALS
Hat – 3 Spools Ruban d’Art and a No. 5 Crochet Hook
Ascot – 1 Spool Ruban d’Art and a No. G/6 Crochet Hook

Crochet Hat and Ascot Gauge: 5 sc = 1″; 5 rows = 1″.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Crochet Hat – Crown
Ch 3, join to form a ring.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in ring. Work around and around in sc, inc. 6 sts in each rnd until work measures 6″ across (102 sts). Continue, working even in sc until crown measures 4″ from center edge.
Crochet Hat – Brim
Rnd 1: With wrong side to you, work 1 rnd sc, inc. 1 st every 10th st around (112 sts in rnd). Place 2 markers in work 4″ apart for back of hat; measure 4″ to each side of these markers and place a marker each side.
Rnd 2: Work sc over the sts between markers for back; work hdc over sts to next marker; work dc over sts to next marker (front); hdc over sts of other side.
Rnd 3: Work in sc over all sts inc. 1 st every 10th st.
Repeat rnds 2 and 3 until crown measures 3″ at center front.
Work 3 rnds of sc – do not inc.
Now, work other half of crown to correspond, dec. on sc rnds in same manner as incs. were made. Sew edge of folded brim to crown.
Crochet a tight slip st along folded edge to curve brim.
Crochet the Ascot
Crochet Ascot – Pattern St
Knot St: * Draw up 1/2″ lp, yo and thru lp; insert hook under single strand at left of lp and work 1 sc tightly (1/2 knot st), repeat from * once (whole knot st).
Row 1: Make 4 complete patterns (8 lps), ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Make 1 knot st, 1 sc in center of first knot st of row below; work 1 knot st and sc in center of every other knot st across, ending with 1 sc in last knot st. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat row 2 until scarf is desired length.
Press thru a damp cloth.
