Free Crochet Pattern for a Bag:
Jeweled Bag Pattern
REQUIRED MATERIALS
Coats & Clarks’s O.N.T. “Speed-Cro-Sheen” Mercerized Cotton, Art. C.44: 9 balls of No. 49-A Killarney.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook: No. 2/0 (double zero)
A Crown Zipper, 10 inches long, Style F.1
12 packages of Walco pearl drops, Style No. 69
1/4 yard green felt for lining

There is also a pattern for a matching fez. The ‘required materials’ are what is required to make BOTH the bag and the matching fez.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
The Bag
Starting at center of bottom, make a chain 4 inches long.
1st Rnd – 3 sc in 2nd ch from book, sc in each ch across, 3 sc in last ch: now, working along opposite side of starting chain, sc in each ch across.
2nd Rnd – SC in each sc around, increasing 3 sc evenly on each rounded end.
Repeat 2nd rnd until piece measures 8 1/2 inches long.
The Side Piece
1st Rnd – Picking up back loop only, sc in each sc around.
2nd Rnd – Sc in each sc around. Repeat 2nd rnd until side piece measures 1 inch.
Next Rnd – Sc in each sc, increasing 1 sc on each side every inch until 5 increased rnds have been made.
Continue to work without increasing until side piece measures 7 3/4 inches, sl st in next sc. Turn and sl st in each sc around. Break off. Make 3 scalloped strips long enough to reach around bag, having first strip at top and 2nd and 3rd strips set 1 1/2 inches apart. Make another strip to reach around bottom. Sew pearl drops to strips and sew strips in place.
The Handle (Make 2)
Starting at one end, ch 7. Join with sl st to form ring.
1st Rnd – Ch 1, sc in each ch around.
2nd Rnd – Sc in each sc around.
Repeat 2nd rnd until piece measures 14 1/2 inches. Break off. Sew handles in place.
Line bag with felt, cutting lining 1 inch deeper than side of bag. Cut a piece of cardboard 1/4 inch smaller than bottom of bag, cover with felt and sew in place. Sew zipper in place on top edges of felt.
