American Thread Company “Star” Tatting Cotton, Art. 25
Steel Crochet Hook No. 13
Row 1: * Ch 6, 2 tr in 4th ch from hook leaving last lp of each tr on hook, thread over and thru all lps (petal), repeat from * for length desired, turn, ch 3, sl st between last 2 petals made.
Row 2: Ch 4, 2 tr in same space with ch-4 leaving last lp of each tr on hook, thread over and thru all lps, ch 5, cluster in same sp, (To Cluster – * thread over hook twice, insert in sp, pull lp thru and work off 2 lps twice, repeat from * 2 more times, thread over and thru all lps on hook. ) * Ch 1, 2 cluster sts with ch 5 between in ch between next 2 petals, repeat from * across row, break thread.
Attach thread on opposite side and repeat row 2.
This completes the flower, do not break thread, ch 5, turn.
Next Row: Sc in ch-5 lp, * ch 5, sc in ch-1 lp between cluster sts, ch 5, sc in next ch-5 lp, repeat from * across row, ch 5, turn.
Next Row: Dc in next lp. * ch 2. dc in next lp, repeat from * across, break thread. Attach thread at opposite side and work 3 sc over ch-5 lp, (ch 5, sc in same sp) twice, 3 sc over same lp, ** sc in next cluster, sc in next ch-1 lp, sc in next cluster, 3 sc over next ch-5 lp, (ch 5, sc in same sp) twice, 3 sc over same lp, repeat from ** across row. Work 1 sc in corner of towel, * ch 3, sc in towel, repeat from * across.
Whip edging to edging of towel.
