Correct tension is the key to making beautiful doilies. If the tension is too loose or too tight, the doily will not lay flat. To get the correct tension, wind the string around your hand and fingers until its easy for you to manage with your hook. Also use your little pinky to manage the tension. I hope this helps all doily makers.
