Crocheted Hanger Covers Free Vintage Crochet Pattern

This free vintage hanger covers crochet pattern was originally published in 1947 in the Sultana Baby Book, Volume S17.

Hanger Covers Crochet Pattern

REQUIRED MATERIALS

Sultana Beautysheen, 1 Ball Each of 3 Contrasting Colors
Steel Crochet Hook, Size 3

NOTE(s)

If you do not have any wooden hangers to wrap these covers around, check out these wooden hangers. If you snip off the pant hanger portion, you can use these for this pattern.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Cover for Wooden Part of Hanger

Ch 10, skip first st, 2 sc in each st to end; 18 sc. Ch 1, turn at end of every row. Work 1 sc in first st taking both loops, 1 sc in each st to within 1 st of end taking back loop only (slipper st), 1 sc in last st taking both loops. Repeat this row until long enough to fit hanger when slightly stretched. Next row, work off every 2 sts as 1 sc. Fasten off. Put hook through center of cover. Fold over, stretching to fit, sew seam.

Ch 5, work slipper st on 4 sts until 6 ins. Fasten off. Sew seam, leaving 1 end open. Insert hook in cover, sew to cover on other part of hanger.

Make 3 covers of contrasting colors if desired.
