STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
With Red, ch 2, 8 s c in 2nd st from hook, do not join this or the following rows. Place a marker at beginning of each row.
2nd Row – 2 s c in each s c.
3rd Row – Working in s c increase in every other st (24 s c).
4th Row – Increase in every 3rd s c.
5th Row – Increase in every 4th s c.
6th Row – Work even.
7th Row – Increase in every 4th s c. If “STAR” Cotton Yarn or “STAR” Rug Yarn is used work 2 more rounds even.
Next 2 Rows – Increase in every 5th s c in each row.
Next Row – Work even, sl st in next st to even row. If “STAR” Cotton Yarn or “STAR” Rug Yarn is used do not sl st but work 1 more row increasing in every 6th s c, then work 1 row even.

* Ch 2, s d c in same space, (s d c: yarn over hook, insert in st, pull through, yarn over and pull through all loops at one time) skip 1 s c, sl st in next s c, repeat from * all around, join, break yarn.
Crocheting a Daisy
With Yellow “STAR” Pearl Cotton and No. 7 hook ch 2, 8 s c in 2nd st from hook, join, break Yellow. Attach White in any s c, * ch 6, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s d c in next st of ch, 1 d c in each of the next 3 sts of ch, sl st in next s c, repeat from * 7 times, break thread.
Work 11 more Daisies in same manner.
Leaf for Daisy Potholder
With Green “STAR” Pearl Cotton * ch 13, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s d c in next st of ch, 1 d c in each of the next 8 sts of ch, 1 s d c in next st, 1 s c in next st, repeat from * twice, break thread.
Work 3 more groups of leaves in same manner.
