This crochet coat size is from newborn infant to 6 months.
A charming sacque, instead of long coat, may be made if desired. To make the sacque, work the same as long coat until 7 inches below underarm, end with row 2 of pat. End with the final row which is the same as the final row of long coat. Complete same as long coat. (Requires 10 balls).
GAUGE: 10 dc = 1 inch; 5 dc rows = 1 inch

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Crochet Coat Pattern – Yoke
Ch 98 for lower edge of back, 1 dc in 4th st from hook, 1 dc in each remaining st of ch; 96 dc, including ch 3. Always count ch 3 as 1 dc.
Row 2 — right side — Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in 2nd and each remaining st, end 1 dc in top of ch 3.
Row 3 — Same as row 2.
Crochet Coat Pattern Armholes
Row 4 — Ch 3, turn, yo, draw up a loop in next st, yo, through 2 loops, yo, draw up a loop in next st, yo, through 2 loops, yo, through 3 loops (a dec), 1 dc in each st to within 3 sts of end, dec. 1 st as before, 1 dc in turning ch; 94 dc.
Work 1 row even.
Dec. 1 st each side of next row; 92 dc.
Work 13 rows even.
Crochet Coat Pattern Right Shoulder and Front
Row 20 — Ch 3. turn. 1 dc in 2nd and each of next 28 sts; 30 dc. Turn.
Work even on these 30 sts for 8 rows more, end at neck edge, drop loop from hook; join separate strand in same st as last dc was worked in, ch 16 for front of neck, fasten off; pick up dropped loop and work 1 sc in each st of ch; 46 dc.
Work 6 rows even.
Row 35 — Work dc to within 2 sts of end (underarm), 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in turning ch.
Work 1 row even.
Row 37 — Same as row 35; 48 dc.

Crochet Coat Pattern Left Shoulder and Front
Row 20 — Skip next 32 sts on last long row, with loop on hook work 1 dc in next st. continue dc to end; 30 sts.
Work 7 rows even.
Row 28 — Ch 18 for front of neck, 1 dc in 4th st from hook and in each ch and st to end; 46 sts.
Complete to correspond to other side. Fasten off.
Sew side seams for 3 rows at lower edge.
Crochet Coat Pattern – Edging
Beginning at lower edge, work 2 sc in end of each row on right front edge; 26 sc. Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in first st, * ch 3 for buttonhole, skip 3 sts, 1 sc in each of next 7 sts; repeat from * twice, end last repeat 1 sc in each of 2 sts.
