STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Crochet Baby Sweater Back — Lower Edge
With A, ch 90.
Row 1 — 1 dc in 4th st from hook and in each st on ch; 88 dc counting ch 3 as 1 dc.
Row 2 — Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in 2nd and in each st to end.
Repeat row 2 for pat., work until 28 rows from beginning.
Ch 50 for right sleeve, turn.
Row 29 — 1 dc in 4th and in each st on ch; 48 dc; work across back; with another strand of A, ch 48, fasten with a slip st to top of end st of 28th row, work 48 dc on this ch for left sleeve; 184 dc.
Work pat. until 44 rows from beginning.
Row 45 — Work until 76 dc (including ch 3). Continue working 76 sts even for 8 rows more, end at inner edge (neck edge). With another strand of A, ch 16, fasten with slip st to top of end st of row below, work 16 dc on ch.
Work 92 sts even until 60 rows from beginning. Fasten off.
Row 61 — Turn, skip 48 sts of sleeve; with loop on hook work next 44 sts for right front. Continue pat. until 88 rows from beginning, end at underarm edge. Fasten off.
Left Side
Skip 32 sts on row 44 for back neck, work next 76 sts. Finish left sleeve and front to correspond to other side.
Chain loop pat. is worked with “B” over “A” background.
Lower Edge of Back — Right Side
Row 1 — With B, 1 sc in first st of foundation ch (in same st with first dc), ch 10, 1 sc under foundation ch in sp between 4th and 5th dc, * ch 10, skip 4 dc, 1 sc under foundation ch between sts; repeat from * until 4 dc from end, ch 4, 1 tr in last st of foundation ch; 22 loops.
Row 2 — Fold work on top of 2nd dc row, insert hook under fold between 2nd and 3rd dc from end, work a slip st, ch 1, 1 tr through top of end st of 4th dc row (a slanting tr), ch 10, turn, * skip 4 dc, insert hook under fold (top of row 2) and under the corresponding ch loop below and work 1 sc, ch 10; repeat from * across until 2 dc from end, ch 4, fold work on top of row 4, turn, with ch loops toward you, work 1 sc through top of end dc of row 4; 21 ch loops, 2 half loops.
Row 3 — Ch 10, 1 sc under ch loop and under fold (top of row 4) between 4th and 5th dc, * ch 10, skip 4 dc, 1 sc under next ch loop and under fold, repeat from * across, end row with ch 4, 1 tr in same place with tr of ch loop row below; 22 loops.
Row 4 — Work as for row 2 folding work on 6th dc row instead of 2nd, work slanting tr in end st 2 rows above. Continue ch loop pat. as for last 2 rows until 14 ch loop rows from beginning, end at right underarm edge. Fasten off.
Join B at right sleeve edge and work on foundation ch, as in row 1 until 12 ch loops, continue pat. across back, work 12 loops for left sleeve; 46 ch loops. Continue pat. until 21 rows from beginning.
Row 22 — Work until 19 ch 10 loops, * ch 4, skip 2 sts, 1 sc in corresponding sp through top of last dc row (neck edge), ch 4, skip 2 dc, 1 sc in corresponding sp under fold and under ch 10 loop of ch row below *; repeat between *’s 7 times, finish row.
Work pat. on 19 loops for 4 rows.
Row 27 — Work across the 19 loops and make 4 ch 10 loops on foundation ch at neck edge; 23 loops. Work pat. for 2 more rows.
Row 30 – Work until 10 ch loops, repeat between *’s in row 22 at edge of sleeve, end with ch 4, 1 sc through top of last dc. Fasten off.
Join B at underarm edge and continue pat. to lower edge of front, and continue repeating between *’s of row 22 when working last row. Fasten off.
Left Shoulder and Sleeve
Beginning at neck edge continue ch loop pat. on sleeve and left front to correspond to other side. Fasten off. Sew side and sleeve seams.
Crochet Baby Sweater Border
Working from right side, join A on left front at neck edge. Round 1—2 sc in corner st, 2 sc under end st of each row on front edge to within last row, 1 sc under end st of last row, 3 sc in corner st (top of same dc), 1 sc in each st to within 1 st of next corner, skip 1 st, 3 sc in corner st, work up right front edge to correspond to left side, 3 sc in corner st, work 28 sc on neck edge to back, 31 sc across back, 28 sc to next corner, 1 sc in same st with first 2′ sc, join with slip st in first sc (an uneven number of sts between corner sts); 414 sc in round.

Crochet Baby Sweater Cuffs
Working from right side around sleeve edge, join A at seam.
Round 1 — 2 sc under end st of each of first 2 rows, * 1 sc under end st of next row, 2 sc under end st of each of next 2 rows; repeat from *, end slip st in first sc; 54 sc.
