CLARK’S O.N.T. “BRILLIANT,” 7 Balls
Steel Crochet Hook No. 8
1 Yard Ribbon, 1/2 Inch Wide

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Crocheting the Foot Portion

Toe Piece: Ch 15 (to measure 1 1/4 inches).

1st Row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across (13 dc, counting turning ch as 1 dc). Ch 3, turn.

2nd Row: Dc in each dc across and in top st of turning ch. Ch 3, turn.

Repeat the 2nd row 4 more times (6 rows in all). Ch 55 for ankle, sl st in first st at beginning of last row. Fasten off.

Now work in rounds as follows:

1st Rnd: Attach thread to center st of ch-55 (this is center back), ch 3, dc in 27 ch, then work across edge of toe piece, making dc in top of each end dc or turning ch as the case may be, and 2 dc in the side of each end st (18 sts along side of toe piece). Make dc in each st of foundation chain of toe piece, work along other edge of toe piece as before, dc in each remaining ch, si st in top st of starting ch (104 sts).

2nd to 7th Rnds: Ch 3, dc in each dc around. Join.

8th, 9th and 10th Rnds: Dc in each dc around, decreasing 5 dc evenly across toe and 5 dc evenly across heel on each rnd – to dec a dc, work off 2 dc as 1 dc. Join. Fasten off at end of 10th rnd. Sew edges together, forming sole.

Now work top in rounds as follows:

1st Rnd: Attach thread to center st of ankle chain, sc in same place, * ch 5, skip 2 sts, in next st make dc, ch 3 and dc; ch 5, skip 2 sts, sc in next st. Repeat from ;i: 3 more times; ch 5, skip the 3 remaining sts of side and 2 sts of toe piece, in next st make dc, ch 3 and dc; ch 5, skip 3 sts, sc in next st, ch 5, skip 3 sts, in next st make dc, ch 3 and dc, ch 5, skip 2 sts of toe piece and 3 sts of side, sc in next st and work along side as before, ending with sl st in 1st sc made.

2nd Rnd: Sl st in each of next 5 ch, in next dc and in next sp; ch 4 (to count as dc and ch 1), 5 dc in same sp with ch-1 between, ch 1, in next sp make 6 dc with ch 1 between (shell made). Repeat from * around. Join last ch-1 with sl st to 3rd st of first ch-4.

3rd Rnd: Sc in sp between first and last shell, * ch 5, in center ch-1 sp of shell make dc, ch 3 and dc, ch 5, sc between next 2 shells. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st in 1st sc made.

Repeat the 2nd and 3rd rounds alternately until top section measures 3 inches, ending with the 3rd round.

Last Rnd: Sl st in next 5 ch, in the dc and in sp; ch 4, p, in same sp make 4 tr with p between; in each ch-3 sp around make 5 tr with p between. Join last tr with sl st to top st of starting ch. Fasten off.

Cut ribbon in half. Run ribbon through space at ankle and tie in a bow.
