REQUIRED MATERIALS
Chadwick’s Red Heart Baby Wool, 10 balls (3/4 oz. balls) of Peach
Crochet Hook No. 6,
4 Yards of Blue Satin Ribbon, 2″ Wide
NOTE(s)
The finished carrying blanket measures approximately 30″x40″.
Gauge: 1 shell and 1 cluster = 1 1/2″; 1 shell and 1 cluster row = 1 1/4″.
Use Double Yarn Throughout.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Starting at narrow edge make a chain 40″ long.
Row 1: Holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, make 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made), * skip 2 ch, make 5 dc in next ch (shell made), skip 2 ch, make a 3-dc cluster in next ch. Repeat from * across, until row measures 30″. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 3, turn.
Row 2: 2 dc in back loop of cluster (half shell made), * sc in center dc of next shell, shell in back loop of next cluster. Repeat from * across, ending with 3 dc in back loop of next cluster (another half shell made). Ch 3, turn.
Row 3: Make a 2-dc cluster in first dc, * shell in back loop of next sc, cluster in center dc of next shell. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn.
Rows 4-7: Repeat rows 2 and 3.
Row 8: Repeat row 2.
Row 9: Cluster in first dc, (shell in back loop of next sc, cluster in center dc of next shell) 3 times; * shell in back loop of next sc, sc in center dc of next shell. Repeat from * across to within last 3 complete shells, (cluster in center dc of next shell, shell in back loop of next sc) 3 times; cluster in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn.
Row 10: Repeat row 2.
Repeat rows 9 and 10 alternately until piece measures 36″, ending with 10th row.
Next Row: Repeat 3rd row.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 alternately 3 more times. Sc closely around outer edge. Join and break off.
Sew satin ribbon around outer edges, mitering corners.
