REQUIRED MATERIALS

CLARK’S O.N.T. “BRILLIANT,” 3 Balls
J. & P. COATS or CLARK’S O.N.T. SIX STRAND EMBROIDERY FLOSS,
1 Skein Each of 2 Colors for Embroidery
Steel Crochet Hook No. 5
Small Button

NOTE(s)

GAUGE: (Sc) 11 sts make 1 inch; 11 rows make 1 inch.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Starting at neck edge, ch 35 (11 ch sts to 1 inch).

1st Row: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 32 ch, 2 sc in last ch. Ch 2, turn.

2nd Row: 2 sc in first st, sc in each sc, increasing 3 sc evenly across, 2 sc in last st. Ch 2, turn.

Repeat the 2nd row 3 more times.

6th Row: 3 sc in first st, sc in each sc, increasing 3 sc evenly across, 3 sc in last st. Ch 2, turn.

7th Row: Same as 2nd row.

Repeat the 6th and 7th rows alternately until center measures 2 l/4 inches from starting chain. Ch 10, turn.

Next Row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, make 5 dc in next ch, drop loop from hook, insert hook in top of the 1st dc of 5-dc group and pull loop through (pc st), * dc in next st, pc st in next st. Repeat from * across.

Do not turn but attach another piece of thread to last st of previous row, then ch 7. Fasten off this extra thread and continue to work pc’s and dc’s across the ch-7. Ch 1, turn.

Following Row: Work sc in each dc and in each pc st across. Ch 3, turn.

Next Row: * Pc st in next st, dc in next st. Repeat from * across. Turn.

Repeat the last 2 rows once more (3 rows of pc sts). Fasten off.

With wrong side facing, work a row of sc around neck edge. Ch 3, turn.

Next Row: * Pc st in next st, skip 1 sc, dc in next St. Repeat from * across, making a ch-3 button-loop at end of row. Fasten off.

Embroider flowers with 1 color of Six Strand Floss, using lazy daisy and stem stitches, as in illustration. Embroider French knots at center of flowers in contrasting color. Sew on button.
