STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Back of Crochet Ribbon Jacket
Chain 72 (72).
Row 1 – * Skip 2 ch, 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in next ch (1 shell), skip 2 ch, 1 sc in next ch, repeat from * across. Ch 2, turn (12 pats).
Row 2 – 1 dc in 1st sc, * 1 sc in ch-1 space at center of shell, 1 shell in next sc, repeat from * across, ending 1 sc in ch-1, 2 dc in last st. Ch 2, turn.
Row 3 – * 1 shell in sc, 1 sc in ch-1 space, repeat from * across, ending 1 shell in sc, 1 sc in last ch. Ch 2, turn.
Row 4 – (Dec. Row) – * 1 sc in ch-1 space, 1 shell in next sc, repeat from * across, ending 1 sc in last ch-1 space (11 pats.). Ch 2, turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 once.
Row 7 – Repeat row 4 (10 pats.).
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until piece measures 5 1/2″.
Inc. 1 pat. in next row and when work measures 9″ from start inc. 1 more pat. Work even on 12 pats, until piece measures 13″ or desired length to underarm.
Armholes for Crochet Ribbon Jacket
Dec. 1/2 pat. at beg. of each of the next 4 rows. Work even on 10 pats, until arm-holes measure 8 (8 1/2)”.
Shoulders for Crochet Ribbon Jacket
* slip st across 1 pat. at beg. of next row, work to within 1 pat. at end of row, repeat from * on next 2 rows and 4 pats, remain.
Cut ribbon and fasten off.
Crochet Jacket – Left Front
Ch 42 (48). Work in pat. st on 7 (8) pats, dec. and inc. at side edge to correspond with back to underarm. There are 7 (8) pats, on row.

Dec. 1/2 pat. 2 times. Work even on 6 (7) pats, until armhole measures same as back.
Shoulder of Crocheted Jacket
At beg. of row, sl st across 1 pat. On next row work to within 1 pat. at end of row. Sl st across 1 pat. at beg. of next row, complete row and cut ribbon. Fasten off.
Right Front of Lady’s Jacket
Work to correspond with Left Front.
Crochet Ribbon Jacket – Sleeves
Ch 54 (60). Work even on 9 (10) pats, until piece measures 4″ or desired length to underarm.
Shaping the Sleeves
Dec. 1/2 pat. at beg. of next 4 rows. Work even until 4″ from underarm. Dec. 1/2 pat. at beg. of every row until 3 pats, remain.
Cut ribbon and fasten off.
Finishing for Crochet Jacket Pattern
Block lightly thru a damp cloth.
Sew shoulder, underarm and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves. Face front edges with grosgrain ribbon for 14″ from lower edge. To Form Buttonholes: Separate sts of shells about 1″ from lower edge and 4″ apart. Slit ribbon and sew opening and shell tog. Buttons: Thread needle with ribbon and overcast thru button molds. Sew on buttons.
