HOW TO CROCHET A BLUE BELL FLOWER
REQUIRED MATERIALS
J. and P. Coats Tatting-Crochet, Size 70 – 1 ball each of Lt. Steel Blue (No. 69) and Hunter’s Green (No. 48)
Steel Crochet Hook No. 14 and No. 7
Yellow Stamens.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Blue Bell Flower (Make 6)
Starting at center with Blue and No. 14 hook, ch 5. Join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 4, 14 tr in ring. Join.
Rnd 2: Ch 4, tr in same place as sl st, 2 tr in next tr, * tr in next tr, 2 tr in next 2 tr. Repeat from * around, ending with tr in last tr. Join.
Rnd 3: Sc in same place as sl st, sc in each tr around (25 sc). Join.
Rnd 4: Ch 4, tr in same sc as sl st, 2 tr in each sc around. Join.
First Petal
Row 1: Ch 4, holding hack on hook the last lp of each tr make tr in next 2 tr, thread over and draw through all lps on hook (cluster made) ; tr in next 3 tr, cluster over next 3 tr. Ch 4, turn.
Row 2: Holding back on hook the last lp of each tr make 2 tr in tip of next cluster, tr in next 3 tr, 2 tr in tip of next cluster, thread over and complete a cluster; ch 4, turn, sl st at base of cluster, ch 4, sl st in next 2 tr on Blue Bell, ch 4 and work next petal as for First Petal until 5 petals are completed. Join and break off.
Stem for Blue Bell(Make 6)
Using 6 strands of Hunter’s Green and No. 7 hook, make a chain 3″ long. Break off. Sew Stems to Flowers. Sew Stamens in place.
HOW TO CROCHET A CARNATION
REQUIRED MATERIALS
J. and P. Coats Tatting-Crochet, Size 70 – 6 balls of Shaded Pink No. 15, and 2 balls of Bright Nile Green No. 26-B and J. and P. Coats or Clark’s O.N.T. Pearl Cotton, Size 5, 1 ball of Nile Green No. 26
Steel Crochet Hooks No. 6 and No. 14
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Carnation Flower (Make 6)
Starting at center with Pink and No. 14 hook ch 10. Join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 4, 19 tr in ring, Sl st in top of ch-4.
Rnds 2, 3, 4: Ch 4, tr in same place as sl st, 2 tr in each tr around. Join.
Rnd 5: Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 10, sc in next tr. Repeat from * around.
Rnd 6: * Ch 10, sc in next lp. Repeat from * around.
Rnd 7: * Ch 5, in next lp make sc, ch 5 and sc. Repeat from * around.
Rnd 8: * Ch 5, sc in next lp. Repeat from * around. Break off.
Carnation Calyx (Make 6)
Starting at lower tip with Green and No. 14 hook, ch 2.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.
Rnd 3: Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Now work sc in each sc around until piece measures 1″ in all. Break off.
Insert Flower in Calyx and sew neatly in place.
Carnation Stem (Make 6)
With double strand of Nile Green Pearl Cotton and No. 6 hook make a chain 5″ long. Sew a Stem to each Carnation.
Stiffen carnations in order to preserve shape.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Flower – Lily (Make 6)
Starting at center with Yellow and No. 14 hook, ch 5. Join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 11 dc in ring. Join to top of ch-3.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in next dc, * 2 dc in next dc (1 dc inc.), dc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * around. Join to top of ch-3.
Rnds 3 thru 7: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, inc. 4 dc evenly in each rnd, being careful that inc. do not fall over each other.
First Petal – Lily
Row 1: Ch 3, dc in next 4 dc and in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn.
Rows 2 thru 5: Repeat first row.
Row 6: Ch 3, holding back on hook the last lp of each dc, make dc in each of the next 4 dc and in top of turning chain. Thread over and draw through all lps on hook (cluster made ). Break off.
Second Petal – Lily
Attach thread to next dc on Flower, ch 3 and work as for First Petal.
Make 4 more Petals in this manner.
Stem for Lily (Make 6)
Using 6 strands of Hunter’s Green and No. 7 hook, make a chain 3″ long. Break off. Sew Stems to Flowers. Sew stamens in place.

No. 14 Steel Crochet Hook
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Make a ch about 4 1/2″ long.
Rnd 1: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next 3 ch, dc in each of next 6 ch, tr in next 12 ch, d tr in next 12 ch, tr in next 12 ch, dc in next 6 ch, hdc in next 3 ch, 6 sc in last ch. Work along opposite side of starting ch to correspond, ending with 3 sc in last ch. Join with sl st to first st made.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, sc in each st around. Join and break off. Make as many leaves as desired. Make stem same as on flowers.
