REQUIRED MATERIALS

J. and P. COATS KNIT CRO-SHEEN
5 balls of Black
J. and P. COATS OR CLARK’S ONT PEARL COTTON, Size 5
2 balls of Mid Red
Bone Crochet Hook No. 6
1/2 Yard each of Buckram and Felt for Lining
1 1/3 Yards of Ribbon
5 Gold Beads
10 Bone Rings

NOTE(s)

Use 4 threads throughout.

Gauge: 4 sc make 1 inch; 4 1/2 rnds make l inch

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Bottom

Starting at center, with Black, ch 4. Join.

1st rnd: 10 sc in ring.

2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around.

3rd rnd: Sc in each sc around.

4th rnd: 2 sc in each sc around (40 sc).

5th, 6th and 7th rnds: Sc in each sc around.

8th rnd: * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around (60 sc).

9th, 10th and 11th rnds: Sc in each sc around. Break off.

Bag Piece – First Motif

Work as for Bottom until 4 rnds are complete.

5th to 8th rnds incl: Sc in each sc around. Break off.

Bag Piece – Second Motif

Same as 1st Motif through the 7th rnd.

8th rnd: Holding wrong sides of 1st and 2nd Motifs together and working through both thicknesses, make sc in the next 8 sc. Now working over 2nd Motif only, make sc in each sc to end of rnd.

Make 3 more Motifs and join as before, having 12 sc between joinings.

Join the 5th Motif to the 4th and 1st Motifs.

The Top

1st rnd: Attach thread to the 3rd sc to left of joining on any motif. * Sc in each sc across to within 2 sc of next joining, ch 6, skip next 2 sc to left of joining on next motif. Repeat from * around ending with ch 6.

2nd rnd: Sc in each sc and each ch around (70 sc).

3rd to 18th rnds incl: Sc in each sc around. Sl St in next sc. Break off.

Circle (Make 10)

With Scarlet, work as for first 2 rnds of 1st Motif. Sl st in next sc. Bteak off.

With right side facing, holding Bottom and lower edge (motif edge) of Bag Piece together and working through both thicknesses, make * sc in 8 sc to left of joining on any motif, sc in next 4 sc on Bottom only. Repeat from * around. Sl st in 1st sc. Break off.

Sew Circles over openings at top and bottom of each motif.

Sew a bead to center of each motif.

Cut a piece of cardboard to lit bottom, then line bag with buckram and lining.

Ring (Make 10)

With Scarlet, make l6 sc over each hone ring. Sl st in 1st sc. Break off.

Sew Rings evenly across top. Draw ribbon twice through rings. Tie ends in a bow.
