Sew 3 blue squares to each set of green squares, as follows (see illustration): lay the last row of a blue square, wrong side up, together with the end of rows on left edge of a green square, and sew them together with blue yarn No. 446, taking up end threads of rows and both threads of the blue sts. Take the sts close together, but be careful not to have seams draw.

Sew the 5 strips of green and blue squares together as shown in illustration, and then sew in the 5 triangles at each side.

Small Squares at Upper End of Pyramid Afghan

Follow directions for blue squares for the first 18 rows, and break off. Make 3 of these small squares, then make 2 triangles for the sides, following directions for the first 18 rows of the large triangles. Place as shown on chart and sew them in.

Light Green Stripe at Lower End of Pyramid Afghan

With green No. 814, ch 285, skip first st, 1 s c in each of 35 sts, 3 s c in next st, * 1 s c in each of 70 sts, 3 s c in next st; repeat from * twice, 1 s c in each of the last 35 sts.

3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Rows - Follow directions for these rows on joining stripe of green squares. Sew this green stripe to lower edge of afghan.

2nd Round - 1 s c in each of 5 sts, * draw up a loop in next st, drop yarn and with brown 540 draw a loop through the 2 loops on hook, 1 s c in each of the next 5 sts, working over the strand of brown 542, draw up a loop in next st, drop yarn and draw brown 542 through the 2 loops on hook, 1 s c in each of the next 5 sts, working over the strand of brown 540; repeat from * around, thus working 6 sts of each color and always keeping the yarn not in use inside the sts.
