REQUIRED MATERIALS
J&P COATS or CLARK'S O.N.T. BEST SIX CORD MERCERIZED CROCHET
Size 30 - 1 Ball of White, Ecru or Any Color
Steel Crochet Hook No. 10 or 11
1 Yard of Narrow Ribbon
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Starting at neck edge, ch 128 (to measure 10 1/4 inches).
1st Row - Dc in 8th ch from hook, * ch 2, skip 1 ch, dc in next ch, ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch. Repeat from * across (49 sps on row). Ch 5, turn.
2nd Row - In 1st sp make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc (shell is made); * ch 2, skip 1 sp, shell in next 5p. Repeat from * across (25 shells on row). Ch 5, turn.
3rd Row - Shell in sp of 1st shell, (shell over shell is made); * ch 3, shell over next shell. Repeat from * across. Ch 5, turn.
4th Row - Shell over shell across with ch-4 between shells. Fasten off.
5th Row - Attach thread in sp of 4th shell from end, ch 3, in same place make dc, ch 2 and 2 dc (thus completing shell); * ch 4, shell over shell. Repeat from * across to within last 3 shells. Turn (3 shells decreased at each end).
6th to 11th Rows (incl) - Sl st in each st across to center of 2nd shell, ch 3 and complete shell as before, * ch 4, shell over shell. Repeat from * across to within last shell. Turn (1 shell decreased at each end). Fasten off at end of 11th row (7 shells on 11th row).
12th Row - Attach thread in sp of 1st shell on 4th row, ch 5, shell in same place where thread was attached, (ch 5, shell over shell) 8 times; ch 5, in next shell make 2 dc, ch 5 and 2 dc; * (ch 5, shell over shell) twice; ch 5, in next shell make 2 dc, ch 5 and 2 dc. Repeat from * once more; (ch 5, shell over shell) 9 times. Fasten off.
13th Row - Attach thread in sp of 4th shell to right of center shell, ch 5, shell over same shell, ch 4, 12 tr in ch-5 sp of next shell, (ch 4, shell over shell) twice; ch 4, 18 tr in ch-5 sp of center shell, (ch 4, shell over shell) twice; ch 4, 12 tr in sp of next shell, ch 4, shell in next shell. Ch 5, turn.
14th Row - Shell over shell, ch 3, tr in each tr with ch-1 between tr's, ch 3, shell over shell, ch 2, shell over shell, ch 3, tr in each tr with ch-1 between tr's, and finish row to correspond with beginning. Ch 5, turn.
15th Row - Shell over shell, ch 3, skip next sp, sc in next sp, (ch 3, sc in next sp) 10 times; ch 3, shell over shell. Ch 5, turn.
Complete Small Pineapple for Pineapple Baby Bib as Follows:
16th Row - Shell over shell, ch 3, skip next ch-3, sc in next loop, (ch 3, sc in next loop) 9 times; ch 3, shell over shell. Ch 5, turn. Continue in this manner, making shell over shell and having one ch-3 loop less on each following row until 1 loop remains. Ch 5, turn.
Next Row - Shell over shell, ch 3, skip next ch-3, sc in loop, ch 3, shell over shell. Ch 5, turn.
Following Row - Shell over shell, dc in sc, 2 dc in sp of next shell, ch 1, sl st in sp of last shell made (thus joining shells), ch 1, 2 dc in same place where last 2 dc were made, ch 5, turn and sl st in joining of shells (pineapple completed). Fasten off.
With right side of 1st row of tr's facing, attach thread to next shell (following pineapple just completed), ch 2, sc in adjacent loop of shell on completed pineapple, ch 2, shell in same shell where thread was attached, ch 3, skip next sp, sc in next sp, (ch 3, sc in next sp) 16 times; ch 3, shell over shell. Ch 5, turn.
Complete pineapple in same way as 1st pineapple for this pineapple baby bib was crocheted. Fasten off.
Work 3rd pineapple in same manner as the previous two pineapples for this pineapple baby bib were crocheted, joining adjacent loops as before. Fasten off.
Attach thread in sp of 1st shell on 12th row, ch 5, shell in same sp, * ch 3, sc in next sp (between shells), ch 3, shell in next shell. Repeat from * 6 more times, ch 3, sc in next sp, ch 3, sl st in ch-5 loop preceding next shell. Fasten off.
Attach thread to last ch-5 loop on 3rd pineapple, ch 3, sc in next sp (between shells) and work to correspond with side just completed.
Pass ribbon through sps at neck edge of pineapple baby bib.
