Memories From my Earring Stitch Markers

My Collection of Earrning Stitch Markers
My favorite crochet accessories are stitch markers made from my own earrings! Instead of using store-bought stitch markers I use my old earrings from my college days to keep track of where my last crochet round was.
After finishing college I phased out of my love for wearing long and hoop earrings and opted for simple pearls instead. However, I found my earrings so lovely and dear that I couldn't throw them away, so I keep them with me at all times.
When I started learning how to crochet on the round, I read of how useful it was to keep a stitch marker handy so you can remember where you started. Well, at that time I didn't have a craft store nearby so I had to improvise. And thank heavens I kept reading online and got the tip about using my own earrings as stitch markers. I was so excited. I searched through my old jewelry cases and found a few earrings that I loved and I knew would work.
Not only are my earring stitch markers pretty, they are useful. Like any other stitch marker they keep me in check of where I last started that round. But they do something else. Every once in a while, when I am in a crochet trance, I will look at my stitch marker and it will remind me of days long gone. Sometimes they remind me of a party I wore them to, or maybe a boring class I can laugh at now, or even a day of shopping with friends that are now long gone.
These earring stitch markers are so helpful when I need to crochet in the round, but they remind me of days I wouldn't remember otherwise. They are practical, beautiful and part of the reason I love to crochet so much.
