Fold Away Bag - Free Crochet Bag Pattern

REQUIRED MATERIALS

Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY The Famous "PURITAN" STAR SPANGLED CROCHET COTTON, Article 40, 10 Balls Cinnamon Spangle or Color of Your Choice OR The Famous "PURITAN" CROCHET COTTON, Article 40, 6 Balls Brown or Color of Your Choice
Steel Crochet Hook No. 1
1/2 Yard Lining, 1/2 Yard Buckram

NOTE(s)

This bag is worked with double strand of thread throughout.

There is a matching fold away cloche for this fold away bag.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Ch 56, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remainingst of ch (55 s c), ch 1, turn.

2nd Row - 1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn.

Repeat 2nd row 48 times.

This section should measure about 8 inches from beginning.

51st Row - 1 s c in each of the next 12 s c, ch 4, skip 3 s c (eyelet), 1 s c in each of the next 25 s c, ch 4, skip 3 s c (eyelet), 1 s c in each of the next 12 s c, ch 1, turn.

52nd Row - 1 s c in each of the next 12 s c, 3 s c over ch 4 loop, 1 s c in each of the next 25 s c, 3 s c over next ch 4 loop, 1 s c in each of the next 12 s c, ch 1, turn.

Repeat 2nd row for 4 inches from eyelet row.

Repeat 51st and 52nd rows once.

Work even for 2 inches from 2nd eyelet row, cut thread.

Attach thread in 1st st of starting ch, 1 s c in each st (55 s c), ch 1, turn. Work this side to correspond to opposite side.

Handle for Fold Away Bag

(Make 3). Ch 350, sl st in 2nd st from hook, 1 sl st in each remaining st of ch, cut thread. Braid.

Lining for Fold Away Bag

Cut a piece of buckram 1/2 inch smaller than bag. Cut lining 1/2 inch larger than buckram. Place lining over buckram and sew. Sew sides of lining together. Mark position for eyelets and cut through the lining and buckram to match eyelets. Turn under 1/8 inch and sew.

Fold bag in half and sew side seams. Place braided handle through eyelets as illustrated below and sew ends together.

You have now finished crocheting this stylish purse pattern!
