REQUIRED MATERIALS
Leeward's Nylon Crochet Thread Size 20 - 1 Spool Each of 2 Colors Steel Crochet Hook No. 7

Gauge: 9 sts = 1"
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Starting at wide end with dark color, ch 29.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, dc in each of next 2 ch, * sc in each of next 2 ch, dc in each of next 2 ch. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. (28 sts.)
Row 2: Sc in each of first 2 dc, dc in each of next 2 sc, * sc in next 2 dc, dc in next 2 sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat row 2 until piece measures 9" (stretch tie when measuring).
Change to light color, ch 1, turn.
Work even in pat. as before, until piece measures 14" from start.
Change to dark color and shape neck as follows: Work in pat. across first 10 sts, sc in next dc, skip 1 st, dc in next sc, skip 1 st, sc in next dc, skip 1 st, dc in next sc, skip 1 st, work in pat. across last 10 sts. (4 sts dec. at center of tie).
Work even in pat. (treating the dec. sts as if they were part of pat.), for 1 1/2". Dec. in same way, working in pat. across the first 8 sts, dec. 4 sts, work pat, over last 8 st. Continue dec. 4 sts at center in this manner every 1 1/2" until 8 sts remain.
Work even until tie measures 38" from start.
Inc. 4 sts at center on next row by working to the 4 center sts, then continue in pat. making 2 sts in each of next 4 sts, complete row.
Continue inc. at center of row in this manner every 1" until there are 24 sts. Work even until tie measures 48" from start. Finish off.
