REQUIRED MATERIALS

AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY The Famous "PURITAN" CROCHET COTTON, Article 40, 2 Balls White or Color of Your Choice, 1 Ball Brown or Any Contrasting Color OR The Famous "PURITAN" STAR SPANGLED CROCHET COTTON, Article 40, 4 Balls Gold & Silver Spangle or Color of Your Choice, 1 Ball Black & Gold Spangle or Any Contrasting Color

These crocheted gloves are worked with a double strand of thread throughout this crochet pattern for a pair of gloves.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Crocheted Gloves Pattern - Right Glove

Palm Side of Crocheted Gloves

With Gold & Silver Spangle or White ch 39, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch (wrong side of glove), ch 1, turn.

2nd Row - 1 s c in each s c working 2 s c in last s c (increase for top of little finger), ch 1, turn.

3rd Row - Skip 1 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 38 s c, ch 1, turn.

4th Row - 1 s c in each of the next 26 s c, ch 17 for 3rd finger, turn.

5th Row - 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, 1 s c in each s c to end of row (42 s c), ch 1, turn.

6th Row - 1 s c in each s c working 2 s c in last s c (increase at top of finger), ch 1, turn.

7th Row - Decrease 1 s c at beginning of row, 1 s c in each remaining s c, ch 1, turn.

8th Row - 1 s c in each of the next 26 s c, ch 18 for 2nd finger, turn.

9th Row - S c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, 1 s c in each of the next 14 s c, ch 16 for thumb, 2 s c in 2nd st from hook (increase at top of thumb), 1 s c in each of the next 14 sts of ch, 1 s c in same s c worked on palm before making ch for thumb, working toward cuff edge, work 1 s c in each of the next 12 s c, ch 1, turn.

10th Row - 1 s c in each of the next 13 s c of palm and1 s c in each of the 16 s c of thumb, working on oppositeside of thumb ch, work 1 s c in each of the 15 sts, skipnext s c of palm, 1 s c in each, of the next 29 s c, 2 s cin last s c (top of finger), ch 1, turn.

11th Row - Skip 1 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 74 s cworking around entire thumb, ch 1, turn.

12th Row - 1 s c in each of the next 57 s c, ch 17 for 1stfinger, turn.

13th Row - 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the next 15 sts of ch, 1 s c in each of the next 57 s c working down palm, around thumb and down to cuff, ch 1, turn.

14th Row - 1 s c in each of the next 28 s c (top of thumb), skip 1 s c, 1 s c in each s c working 2 s c in last s c (top of finger), ch 1, turn.

15th Row - Skip 1 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 43 s c, fold thumb so that thumb is on wrong side of palm, working through both sides of thumb, insert hook in last s c worked, skip 1 s c at top of thumb, insert hook in next s c and make a sl st, 1 s c in each of the next 14 s c working through 1 st on each side to join thumb, 1 s c in each remaining s c to cuff, ch 1, turn.

16th Row - 1 s c in each s c around entire glove (except thumb and cuff edge) working 1 s c in each s c or row and 2 s c in center of finger tips, cut thread. Turn thumb right side out.

Crocheted Gloves Pattern - Back of Glove

Ch 39 and work 1st 8 rows same as palm side (1st row is right side).

9th Row - S c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s e in each remaining st of ch, 1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn.

10th Row - 1 s c in each s c working 2 s c in last s c, ch 1, turn.

11th Row - Skip 1st s c, 1 s c in each remaining s c, ch 1, turn.

12th Row - 1 s c in each of the next 26 s c, ch 17 for finger, turn.

13th, 14th and 15th Rows - Same as 9th, 10th and 11th rows of back of glove.

16th Row - 1 s c in each s c or row all around working 2 s c in center of each finger, do not work across cuff, cut thread.

Steam each section slightly before joining. Using single strand of thread, sew the 2 sections together on right side.

Crocheted Gloves Pattern - Cuff

Attach Gold & Silver Spangle or White at lower edge of glove and work 36 s c around edge, join in 1st s c, drop thread.

2nd Round - Attach Black & Gold Spangle or Brown in same space, ch 1, 1 s c in each s c, join, drop thread.

3rd Round - With Gold & Silver Spangle or White ch 1, 1 s c in each s c, join.

4th Round - Ch 1, 1 s c in each s c, join, cut thread.

5th Round - With Black & Gold Spangle or Brown ch 1, * thread over hook, insert hook in corresponding s c of 3rd row below, pull loop through and complete d c, skip 1 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 2 s c, repeat from * all around, join, cut thread.

Crocheted Gloves Pattern - Left Glove

Work 1st 14 rows same as for right palm marking the 1st row as right side of glove.

15th Row - Skip 1 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 43 s c, fold thumb sts so that thumb is on wrong side of palm, skip 1 s c, turn, insert hook in s c just worked and in s c after skipped s c and work a sl st. Complete thumb joining and finish to correspond to right palm.

Crocheted Gloves Pattern - Back of Left Glove

Work same as right back marking 1st row as wrong side of glove.

Finish same as right glove to complete these crocheted gloves.
