2 - 1 oz. Balls of White
1 Boyle Crochet Hook No. 2 or No. 3

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Ch 69, insert needle in 3rd st from hook, pull loop through, yarn over, skip next st of ch, insert needle in next st, pull loop through, yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on needle, Ch 1, * insert needle in same space with last st, pull loop through, yarn over, skip 1 st of ch, insert needle in next st, pull loop through, yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on needle, ch 1, repeat from * to end of row. (Ch 2 to turn each row).

2nd Row - Start pattern, insert needle in space with ch 2, pull loop through, yarn over, insert needle under 2 loops of st, pull loop through, yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on needle, ch 1, * insert needle in same space with last st, pull loop through, yarn over, skip the ch 1, insert needle under 2 loops of st, pull loop through, yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on needle, ch 1, repeat from * across row. Continue working in pattern until work measures 8 inches, break yarn.

Fold work, thread a needle with a length of yarn and starting at the first and last st of 1st row, sew 1st row together to form hood.

Attach yarn at end st of last row and work 1 row of s c all around front of hood, working 1 s c in each row.

Next Row - Start double knot st (Double Knot Stitch: draw up 1/2 inch loop on needle, yarn over and pull through ch, s c in loop of st, draw up another 1/2 inch loop, s c in loop, s c in next s c), repeat double knot sts all around front of hood, continue in double knot sts around lower edge of hood, working a knot st in each pattern.

Next Row - Work 3/4 inch knot st to turn. Working across lower edge of hood only, s c in s c of last double knot st made, * work another double knot st, s c in center s c of next double knot st, work another double knot st, s c in same st with last s c, thus increasing one double knot st, repeat from * across row, turn and work 2 more rows even, then work 1 row of double knot sts all around hood, break yarn.

Cord for Crochet Hood Pattern for a Baby

Crochet a ch 12 inches long, s c in 2nd st from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 st, s c in next st, repeat from * to end of ch, break yarn. Make 2 more cords in the same manner. Lace 1 cord in back of hood to fit baby snugly at back of neck. Sew the other two cords in positions for ties.
