Crochet Baby Blanket - Vintage Carriage Cover

REQUIRED MATERIALS

Fleisher’s De Luxe Zephyr Germantown, 8 balls White, 2 balls Color
Crochet Hook, Size 5.

NOTE(s)

The crochet carriage cover is approximately 34" x 26".

Gauge: 7 patterns = 4 inches; 6 rows = 2 inches

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

With white, ch 107 sts, 1 dc in 4th st from hook and in each st to end; 105 dc (ch 3 counts as 1 dc).

First Row (wrong side) — Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in first dc, * ch 2, 1 sc in space between 3rd and 4th dc; repeat from *, end 1 sc in top of ch 3.

2nd Row — Ch 3, turn, 2 dc under first ch 2, * 3 dc under next ch; repeat from *, end 2 dc under last ch, 1 dc in last sc. Repeat these 2 rows until 28 inches from beginning, end with 2nd pat. row. Fasten off.

Border

Turn, with color, work as for first pat. row, end 1 sc in turning ch, continue around, ch 2, 1 sc in same st as last sc (corner inc.), * ch 2, skip dc row, 1 sc in space under sc of next ch row; repeat from * to corner, working last sc in first st of foundation ch, ch 2, 1 sc in same st as last sc, continue on lower edge, work corner and other side to correspond, end 1 sc in same st as first sc, ch 2, join in first sc. Fasten off.

2nd Row — Turn. With white, working from right side, 3 dc in last ch 2 (corner) space *, work pat. to next corner space, 3 dc-ch 1- 3 dc in corner space (inc.); repeat from * around, end last repeat 3 dc in same space as first 3 dc, ch 1, join in top of first dc. Fasten off.

3rd Row — Turn. With dc, work 1 sc under last ch 1 in corner space, work as for first pattern row of center, increasing at corners as in first row of border, join as before. Fasten off.

Repeat the last 2 rows until there are 4 dc rows in border.

Edging

With color and working from right side, 1 sc in corner space, * ch 3, 1 slip st in 3rd st from hook (picot), 1 sc in space between 3rd and 4th dc; repeat from * around, end slip st in first sc. Fasten off. Steam.
