REQUIRED MATERIALS

Bucilla Crochelle or Fleisher's Glo-Twist, 3 Balls
Bucilla or Fleisher's Steel Crochet Hook, Size 7

NOTE(s)

Gauge: 10 dc = 1 inch; 5 dc rows = 1 inch
6 patterns — 3 1/2 inches; 4 pattern rows = 1 inch

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Back

Ch 4, join with slip st into ring.

Round 1 — Ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join with slip st in top of ch 3; 12 dc, counting ch 3 as 1 dc.

Round 2 — Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in slip st, 2 dc in each of remaining 11 sts, join; 24 dc.

Round 3 — Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in slip st, 1 dc in next st, * 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st; repeat from * around, join; 36 dc.

Round 4 — Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in slip st, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, * 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts; repeat from * around, join; 48 dc.

Work 6 more rounds, increasing 12 sts in each round as before having 1 st more between increases every round; 120 sts, join.

Round 11 — right side — Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each st, join; 120 sc.

Pattern

Row 1 — Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in slip st, * skip 1 st, 1 tr in next st, ch 4, 4 tr around post of tr just worked, skip 1 st, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts; repeat from * 20 times, working the 2 dc at end of last repeat in 1 st; 21 pats. (15 sts left free for back of neck). Work pat. as for long coat on these 21 pats, for 17 rows more, end on right side. Do not break.

Turn-Back Border

Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in each of first 2 sts, * 2 dc in ch 2 sp, 2 dc in sc, 2 dc in ch 2 sp, 1 dc in each of 2 dc; repeat from * across row; 171 dc.

Row 2 — Work X st row same as row 2 of beading on long coat; 42 X st pats., plus 1 st each side.

Row 3 — Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in first st, * 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in sp, 1 sc in next st *; repeat between *'s, end 1 sc in top of turning ch; 170 sc.

Row 4 — Ch 3, turn, 1 tr in 2nd st, * ch 4, 4 tr around post of tr just worked, skip 3 sts, 1 tr in next st; repeat from * across row. Do not break.

Neck Band

Continue on side edge as follows: Ch 1, spacing sts evenly work 40 sc to back of neck, 15 sc across back of neck, 40 sc on other side; 95 sc.

Row 2 — Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each sc. Fasten off.

Steam lightly. Fold border over on right side and tack. Lace ribbon through X st row and trim as illustrated.
