Gauge: Yoke pattern — 21 sts = 2 inches, 11 rows = l inch
Wave pattern — 1 pattern = l 1/2 inches, 4 rows = l inch

Measurements: Sacque — Chest 21 inches, length from lower edge to shoulder 11 inches, sleeves — width 7 1/2 inches.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

BABY PRAM SET SACQUE

YOKE

Back —

With A ch 112 for lower edge.

Row 1 — 1 sc in 2nd st from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 sc in next st; repeat from * to end of ch; 56 sc with ch 1 between.

Row 2 — Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in first sc, * ch 1, skip ch, 1 sc in next sc; repeat from * to end.

Repeat row 2 for pat. Work 3 rows even.

Armhole Shaping —

Row 6 — Ch 1, turn, skip sc, 1 sc under ch 1, 1 sc in next sc; work pat. to within 2 sts of end, 1 sc under ch (1 st dec. each side).

Row 7 — Ch 1, turn, skip sc, 1 sc in next sc, work pat. to within1 st of end (2 sts dec). Repeat rows 6 and 7 once; 52 sc with ch 1 between. Work pat. even until 42 rows from beginning. Fasten off.

RIGHT FRONT

With A ch 56. Work 5 rows as for back.

Row 6 — Ch 1, turn, skip sc, 1 sc under ch, 1 sc in next sc, work pat. to end (1 st decreased at armhole edge). Keeping front edge even, work to within 1 st of end on next row.

Repeat last 2 rows once.

Work even on remaining 26 sc until 24 rows from beginning, end at front edge. Slip st over first 4 sts on next row for neck shaping, work pat. to end. Continue pat. decreasing 1 st at neck edge every row until 17 sc with ch 1 between remain. Work even until 42 rows from beginning. Fasten off.

LEFT FRONT

Work as for right front, shaping arm-hole and neck edge at opposite sides. Sew underarm and shoulder seams.

LOWER PART OF SACQUE

With A, work 1 sc in each st of foundation ch around yoke, another sc in last st; 222 sc.

Wave Pattern

Row 1 — wrong side — Ch 4, turn, 1 dc in 2nd st, ch 1, 1 dc in next st, * skip 3 sts, 1 tr in each of next 3 sts, ch 3, 1 dc in next st, skip 1 st, work ch 1 and 1 dc in each of next 4 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 dc in next st; repeat from *, end last repeat ch 3, 1 dc in next st, ch 1 and 1 dc in each of last 2 sts; 16 wave pats.

Row 2 — Ch 4, turn, working in front loop of sts, 1 dc in 2nd dc, work m by ch 1, skip ch, 1 dc in next dc *, skip 3 ch, 1 tr in each of next 3 tr, ch 3, 1 dc in next dc, work 5 m; repeat from *, end last repeat with 2 m.

Repeat row 2 for pat. Work until 27 rows from beginning.

Row 28 — right side — Ch 5, turn, 1 tr in first dc, * eh 1,1 dc in next dc, ch 1,1 sc in next dc, slip st in ch 3 sp, 1 sc in each of 3 tr, 1 sc in next dc, ch 1,1 dc in next dc, ch 1, 2 tr with ch 1 between in next dc, ch 1, 2 tr with ch 1 between in next dc; repeat from *, end last repeat with 2 tr with ch 1 between in last st.

Continue up front edge, working 67 sc to yoke, 24 sc on yoke edge, 3 sc in corner st, 17 sc on side of neck to shoulder seam, 26 sc across back neck; finish other side to correspond. Fasten off.

SLEEVES

With A, ch 34 for top of sleeve.

Row 1 — 1 dc in 5th ch from hook, ch 1 and 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, * 1 tr in each of next 3 sts, ch 3, 1 dc in next st, ch 1 and 1 dc in each of next 5 sts; repeat from * twice, end last repeat with ch 1 and 1 dc in each of last 4 sts.

Row 2 — Ch 4, turn, 1 dc in first dc, work 4 m, continue pat. to end, ch 1,1 dc in same place as last dc; (1 m increased each side).

Inc. 1 m each side on each of next 4 rows; 9 m at each side in all.

Row 7 — Ch 4, turn, 1 dc in first dc, ch 1, skip ch, 1 dc in next dc, skip ch and dc, 1 tr in each of next 3 sts, ch 3, 1 dc in next dc, work pat. to within 4 m of end; skip ch and dc, 1 tr in each of next 3 sts, ch 3, 1 dc in next dc, ch 1, 1 dc in 3rd st of turning ch, ch 1, 1 dc in same st; 5 wave stripes with 2 m at each side.

Inc. 1 m each side on each of next 2 rows.

Work even for 27 rows.

Row 37 — Ch 1, turn, work 48 sc across (about 17 sc to 2 pats.).

Fasten off. Sew seams. Sew in sleeves with seam at center underarm.

Cuff—Rick-Rack Edging

Join B at seam. Working from right side, ch 1, * 1 sc in each of next 3 sc, ch 3, skip 3 sts; repeat from * to end, slip st to first sc.

Row 2 — Ch 3, work dec. group as follows: yo, draw up a loop in first sc, yo, through 2 loops, yo, draw up a loop in next sc, yo, through 2 loops, yo, draw up a loop in next sc, yo, through 2 loops, yo, through all loops on hook, * 2 dc in next ch 3 loop, 3 dc in center st of loop, 2 dc in same loop, work dec. group over next 3 sc; repeat from * around, end last repeat with slip st on top of ch 3. Fasten off.

Right Front Band

With A, beginning at lower edge of yoke, work 26 sc to neck edge.

Row 2 — Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each sc.

Row 3 — Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in first sc, * ch 3, skip 3 sts for buttonloop, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc; repeat from *, end last repeat 1 sc. Fasten off.

Work 3 rows sc on left front edge to correspond omitting buttonloops. Fasten off.

Rick-rack Edging on Right Front

With B, beginning at neck edge, fold band over toward wrong side; working (toward lower edge) over first sc row under band, work * 1 sc in each of 3 sc, ch 3, skip 3 sts; repeat from *, end at lower edge with 1 sc in each of last 3 sc.

Row 2 — Ch 3, turn, continue as for row 2 of edging on sleeves, end with dec. group. Fasten off. Beginning at lower edge, work edging on left front to correspond.

COLLAR

Leaving band and rick-rack edge free, join A in first sc at neck edge of left front, work around neck, ch 4,1 dc in next sc, * ch 1,1 dc in next sc; repeat from * to end. Work in front loop of sts for next 3 rows as follows:

Row 2 — Ch 4, turn, 1 dc in 2nd dc, work m to end; 61 m.

Row 3 — Ch 4, turn, 1 dc in 2nd dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next de, * ch 1, 1 dc in same st with last dc (an inc.), work 3 m; repeat from *, end last repeat with 2 m; 81 m.

Row 4 — Ch 4, turn, 1 dc in 2nd dc, work m to end. Fasten off.

With A and loop on hook, beginning at neck edge of left side, work 3 sc in each of 3 m on short side of collar, 5 sc in corner m, 159 sc to next corner (about 2 sc in each m), 5 sc in corner m, 3 sc in each of next 3 m. Fasten off.

Rick-rack Edging

Join B in sc row of edging on right front, * ch 3, skip 3 sc on collar edge, 1 sc in each of next 3 sc; repeat from * once, ch 5 for corner loop, 1 sc in same st as last sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, ch 3, skip 3 sts, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, continue to corner, work next corner to correspond, finish row, end with slip st in sc in row 1 of edging on left front, ch 2, slip st on top of turning ch of row 2, turn. Work 2 dc in first loop of collar, 3 dc in center st of loop, 2 dc in same loop; continue as for 2nd row of edging on sleeves, working 3 dc in corner loop, 4 dc in center st of loop, 3 dc in same loop, end with slip st in dc of row 2 of edging on right front. Fasten off.

FINISHING

Steam lightly. Line sacque.

BABY PRAM SET CAP

CENTER BACK

With A ch 4; join with slip st into ring. Work 8 sc in ring, join with slip st in first sc. Join each round in same way.

Round 2 — Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as slip st, 2 sc in each st, join.

Round 3 — Ch 1, 1 sc in same st, * ch 1, 1 sc in next st; repeat from *, end ch 1, join; 16 sc with ch 1 between.

Round 4 — Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in joining st, * ch 1, skip ch, 1 sc in next sc; repeat from *, end ch 1, join.

Repeat round 4 for pat. Work 1 round even.

Round 6 — Inc. round — Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in joining st, * ch 1, 1 sc in ch 1 sp, ch 1, 1 sc in sc; repeat from *, end ch 1, 1 sc in ch 1 sp, join; 32 sc with ch 1 between.

Work 3 rounds even.

Round 10 — Inc. round — Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in joining st, * ch 1, 1 sc in ch 1 sp, ch 1, 1 sc in sc, ch 1, 1 sc in next sc; repeat from *, end last repeat ch 1, join; 48 sc with ch 1 between.

Work 4 rounds even.

Round 15 — Inc. round — Work pat. working ch 1, 1 sc in every 3rd sp; 64 sc with ch 1 between.

Work 4 rounds even.

Round 20 — Inc. round — Work pat. increasing in every 8th sp; 72 sc with ch 1 between.

Work 2 rounds even.

Round 23 — Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in joining st, * 1 sc in sp, 1 sc in sc; repeat from *, end 1 sc in last sp, join; 144 sc.

Wave Pattern

Row 1 — Same as row 1 on sacque working to within 20 sts of end; 9 pats; 20 sts left at back of neck.

Row 2 — Same as row 2 on sacque. Repeat row 2 until 15 rows from beginning.

Neckband

Do not turn; continue working on side of pat., working 26 sc to back neck (about 2 sc in each row), 16 sc across back, 26 sc on other side. Ch 1, turn, work 1 sc in each sc. Fasten off.

Border

With A, beginning at lower edge of band at left side, working on wrong side of cap, work 153 sc across front to other side of band, working about 17 sc to each pat.

Row 2 — Ch 1, turn; working in back loop of sts, 1 sc in first sc, * ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 sc in next st; repeat from * to end.

Row 3 — Ch 1, turn, working through both loops of sts, 1 sc in first sc, * ch 1, skip ch, 1 sc in next sc; repeat from * to end.

Repeat row 3 until 11 rows from beginning.

Row 12 — right side — Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in sc, * 1 sc in ch 1 sp, 1 sc in next sc; repeat from * to end; 153 sc. Fasten off.

Rick-Rack Edging

Join B in last st of row 12, ch 1, turn, working from wrong side of border, 1 sc in each of first 3 sts, * ch 3, skip 3 sts, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts; repeat from * to end.

Row 2 — Ch 3, turn, continue as for row 2 of edging on cuff, end with dec. group. Fasten off.

Rick-Rack at Inner Edge of Border

Working from right side with outer edge toward you, with A and loop on hook work 1 sc in free loop of each st in first row of border; 153 sc. Fasten off.

Join B in last st of last row, ch 1, turn. Work next 2 rows to correspond to rows 1 and 2 on other side. Steam lightly. Sew in lining. Trim as illustrated.

BABY PRAM SET CARRIAGE COVER

This baby carriage cover is approximately 27 inches by 30 inches.

CENTER

With A ch 269.

Row 1 — 1 dc in 6th st from hook, work m by ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 dc in next st, work 3 m,* skip 3 sts, 1 tr in each of next 3 sts, ch 3, 1 dc in next st, work 5 m; repeat from * to end; 15 wave pats.

Row 2 — Ch 4, turn, working in front loop of sts, 1 dc in 2nd dc, ch 1, skip 1 ch, 1 dc in next dc; work 3 m more, * skip 3 ch, 1 tr in each of next 3 tr, ch 3, 1 dc in next dc, work 5 m; repeat from *, end with last dc in 2nd st on turning ch.

Repeat row 2 until 106 rows; about 26 1/2 ins. from beginning. Do not break.

BORDER

Round 1 — right side — Ch 1, turn, working in both loops of sts, 2 sc in first st (corner st), work 249 sc to next corner st, working 1 sc in sp and 1 sc in dc of each m, 2 sc in each ch 3 sp, 1 sc in each tr, 1 sc in each dc, work 3 sc in 3rd st of turning ch (2nd corner); work 267 sc on side to next corner (about 5 sc every 2 rows), 3 sc in next corner st; work other 2 sides to correspond, end with 1 sc in same st with first 2 sc, join with slip st to first sc.

Round 2 — Do not turn, working in back loop of sts (in this round only), work 2 sc in same st as slip st (corner st), * ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 sc in next st *; repeat between *'s to within 1 st of next corner st, ch 1, skip 1 st, 3 sc in corner st; continue around working between *'s, having 3 sc in each corner st, end with 1 sc in same st as first 2 sc, join.

Rick-rack Edging

Round 1 — Working from right side with B and loop on hook, work 1 sc in a corner st, ch 5, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, * ch 3, skip 3 sts, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts *; repeat between *'s to next corner, ch 5. 1 sc in same st as last sc (corner st), 1 sc in each of next 2 sts; repeat between *'s to next corner: continue around in same way, end with 1 sc in each of last 2 sts, join with slip st to first sc.

Round 2 — Working from same side, slip st in next ch 5 loop, ch 3, 2 dc in loop, 4 dc in center st of loop, 3 dc in loop, * work dec. group as follows: yo, draw up a loop in next sc, yo, through 2 loops, yo, draw up a loop in next sc, yo, through 2 loops, yo, draw up a loop in next sc, yo, through 2 loops, yo, through all loops on hook, 2 dc in next ch 3 loop, 3 dc in center st of loop, 2 dc in same loop *; repeat between *'s, working next corner loop as follows: 3 dc in loop, 4 dc in center st of loop, 3 dc in loop. Rick-Rack at Inner Edge of Border

Working from right side having outer edge toward you, with A and loop on hook, work 1 sc in free loop of each st in first round of border, skipping 3 sts at each corner; 249 sts on each short side, 267 sts on each long side. Fasten off. With B work as for first round of edging omitting corner loops and working 1 sc in each of 6 sts around each corner. Continue as for 2nd round having 2 dec. groups at each corner. Fasten off. Steam lightly.

BABY PRAM SET PILLOW COVER

This baby pram set pillow cover is not illustrated here. It is approximately 12 by 16 inches in size, not including the border).

CENTER

With A ch 184.

Row 1 — Same as row 1 of center of carriage cover; 10 wave pats.

Continue as for center of carriage cover until 48 rows (about 12 ins.).

BORDER

Round 1 — Same as round 1 of border on carriage cover having 171 sc on each long side and 123 sc on each short side, between corner groups.

Rounds 2-10 — Same as on carriage cover.

Round 11 — Same as round 14 on cover having 146 sc on each short side and 194 sc on each long side, including corner sts. Work rick-rack edging same as on cover. Steam lightly. Sew to pillow form.
