REQUIRED MATERIALS1 1/2 oz. 4-ply Fingering Wool Crochet Hook Size of No. 12 Knitting Needle STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS Commence with 5 chain, join, and into ring put 12 treble (3 chain to stand for 1st). 2nd Row - * 1 double crochet in 1st treble, 2 double crochet in 2nd. Repeat from *. 3rd Row - 1 double crochet in 1st stitch, 2 double crochet in the 1st of the two in one stitch of previous row, 1 double crochet in each of next two stitches. Continue increasing in this way, making two double crochet in the 1st of the two below, and having one more stitch between the increases until work measures 3 inches from centre of crown to edge. Any size hat can be made by adding more rows here. One row makes a great difference. Now work one row without increase. Next Row - l chain, * draw wool through 1st double crochet, then through 2nd, then draw through all 3 loops on needle together, 1 chain, and repeat from * all around. Next Row — * Draw wool through stitches at each side of group below, draw through all 3 loops together, 1 chain. Repeat from *. Repeat last row 7 times more, then make 3 rows of plain, double crochet, making one in each stitch. BRIM — Double crochet, making two in every sixth stitch. 4 rows plain, then a row increasing like 1st, then 3 rows plain, then a row increasing in every 8th stitch. Finish with 2 rows of double crochet in silk and trim with ribbon rosettes.
