Crochet this Baby Bootie Pattern

REQUIRED MATERIALS

J. & P. COATS or CLARK'S O.N.T. PEARL COTTON, Size 5, 3 Balls
1 Steel Crochet Hook No. 5
1 1/2 Yards of Narrow Ribbon

NOTE(s)

Gauge for this Baby Bootie Crochet Pattern: (Sole) 8 sts measure 1 inch; 7 rows measure 1 inch. (Upper) 10 sts measure 1 inch.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Baby Bootie Pattern - Sole

Starting at toe end, with double thread ch 10.

1st Row - Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across (9 sc). Ch 1, turn.

2nd Row - 2 sc in 1st sc, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.

Repeat 2nd row until there are 15 sts on row. Ch 1, turn. Work straight without increasing until piece measures 3 1/4 inches in all. Ch 1, turn.

Next Row - Skip 1st sc, sc in next sc and in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.

Repeat last row until 11 sts remain (heel). Fasten off.

Baby Booties Pattern - Upper

Starting at toe, with single thread ch 14.

1st Row - Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 5 ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in remaining 6 ch (15 sc). Ch 1, turn.

2nd Row - Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.

3rd Row - Sc in each sc across to center sc, 3 sc in center sc, sc in each remaining sc (17 sc). Ch 1, turn.

4th to 10th Rows (incl) - Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately 3 more times, then repeat 2nd row once more (23 sc). Ch 1, turn.

11th Row - Sc in each sc across to center sc of 3-sc group, 3 sc in center sc, sc in each remaining sc (25 sc). Ch 1, turn.

Repeat 11th row until there are 39 sc on row. Ch 1, turn.

Next Row - Sc in 10 sc, ch 6 for cuff, turn.

Following Row - Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 4 ch, sc in next 10 sc. Ch 1, turn.

Next Row - Sc in 15 sc. Ch 1, turn.

Repeat last row until piece is long enough to go all around edge of Sole.

Fasten off.

Baby Bootie Pattern - Finishing

Pin upper in place and overcast onto edge of sole. Sew up side seam. Attach thread at base of cuff, (ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook, skip next sc, sc in next sc) 3 times; * ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook, skip end of 1 row, sc in end of next row. Repeat from * around, having end correspond with beginning of row. Do not work across point at instep. Fasten off.

Run ribbon in and out under cuff and tie in a bow at front of instep point.

Make another slipper same as this.
