AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "DAWN" POMPADOUR YARN:
3 3/4 oz. Balls Blue or Color Desired
1 Ball Contrasting Color for Trim
Bone Crochet Hook Size 5 or 6
1 Yard Narrow Ribbon
2 Buttons
NOTE(s)
This crocheted hood is for a infant of about 6 months to 1 year in age.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Ch 65 rather loosely and work; 1 s c in 4th st from hook, 1 dc in next ch, * 1 sc in next ch, 1 d c in next ch, repeat from * across row, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row - 1 s c in d c, * 1 dc in next s c, 1 s c in next d c, repeat from * across row, ch 3, turn and work all rows in same manner working the d c over the s c and the s c over the d c until work measures 7 1/4 inches, break yarn leaving an end to sew seam.
Fold in half crosswise and sew back seam.
Beading at Neck for Baby Bonnet Crochet Pattern
Join yarn 1 1/2 inches from front of hood, ch 4, skip 1 row, d c in next row, * ch 1, skip 1 row, d c in next row, repeat from * across bottom of hood leaving 1 1/2 inches free at other end of hood for turnback, ch 1, turn, * 1 dc in mesh, 1 s c in dc, repeat from * across row, ch 3, turn.
Next Row - 1 d c in same space, * s c in next d c, d c in next s c, repeat from * across row increasing 1 st at end of row and work 1 row even, ch 1, turn.
Next Row - 1 s c in same st, * 1 s c in each of the next 4 sts, 2 s c in next st, repeat from * across row, ch 3, turn.
Next Row - * 1 s c in next st, 1 dc in next st, repeat from * across row and work 3 rows of pattern increasing 1 st at the beginning of each row, ch 1, turn.
Next Row - 1 s c in each st increasing 1 st in every 5th st.
Next Row - * 1 s c in next st, 1 dc in next st, repeat from * across row and work 5 rows in pattern increasing 1 st at the beginning of each row, break yarn.
Attach contrasting yarn and work a scallop around entire hood.
Scallop for Baby Bonnet Crochet Pattern
Ch 4 and work 4 tr c in same space, skip the length of a tr c, s c in next st, skip same length and work 5 tr c, in next st, repeat all around working 7 tr c in corners.
Lace ribbon through heading at neck. Sew buttons in position as illustrated to complete this baby bonnet crochet pattern.
